Heat transfer characteristics of NiO nanofluid in heat exchanger [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2020
The application heat tranfer process has widely used in several areas of industry, one of regular device that used is heat exchanger that could be found in cooling system, refineries, power plant, etc. The commonly fluids used in heat exchanger were water, minral oil, and ethylene glycol which has poor heat transfer characteristic. Therefore, nanofluid

Time-Average Heat Transfer Coefficient for Steam-Air Condensation during the Dropping of Containment Pressure

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
The passive containment cooling system (PCCS) has been applied in the new generation nuclear power plant. Previous studies mainly focused on steady-state heat transfer, but the actual heat transfer of PCCS is the transient process.

Transfers in Porous Media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Modelling heat transfer in porous media requires to take into account multiple-scale aspects inherent to porous media structures. Several methodologies have been developed to upscale the equations at a lower-scale and to obtain upper-scale models as it ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Numerical analysis of a fin-tube plate heat exchanger with winglets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this presented work, numerical analysis of heat transfer and flow characteristic using longitudinal vortex generators (LVGS) in fin and flat tube heat exchanger has been presented. Conjugate heat transfer 3D numerical model has been developed and

Heat transport in oscillator chains with long-range interactions coupled to thermal reservoirs

open access: yes, 2017
We investigate thermal conduction in arrays of long-range interacting rotors and Fermi-Pasta-Ulam (FPU) oscillators coupled to two reservoirs at different temperatures.

Asymptotic analysis of vertical geothermal boreholes in the limit of slowly varyng heat injection rates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Theoretical models for the thermal response of vertical geothermal boreholes often assume that the characteristic time of variation of the heat injection rate is much larger than the characteristic diffusion time across the borehole.
