Non-uniform Flow Field of Convection Heat Transfer Characteristics of Supercritical Methane in a Horizontal Tube

open access: yesJournal of Harbin University of Science and Technology, 2021
In order to reveal the heat transfer mechanism of supercritical methane heat exchanger,a coupled model for solid wall heat conduction and convection supercritical methane is established, and the non-uniform flow field of convection heat transfer ...

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Heat transfer characteristics of closed-end thermosyphon (CE-TPCT)

open access: yesEngineering Science and Technology, an International Journal, 2022
This study investigated the heat transfer characteristics of a Closed-End Thermosyphon (CE-TPCT) made of copper tubes with 5.5 mm diameter. The experiments were conducted with working substance filling rates of 0%, 30%, 50%, and 70% of the volumetric ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Review of thermo-physical properties, wetting and heat transfer characteristics of nanofluids and their applicability in industrial quench heat treatment

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2011
The success of quenching process during industrial heat treatment mainly depends on the heat transfer characteristics of the quenching medium. In the case of quenching, the scope for redesigning the system or operational parameters for enhancing the heat

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Spreading and heat transfer characteristics of droplet on a heated substrate

open access: yesActa Physica Sinica, 2016
The spreading characteristics of a droplet on a heated substrate have direct influences on its spreading area and heat transfer, so the exploration in this aspect is of important significance for cooling electronic and aerospace equipments. In the present paper, the evolution model of a droplet on a heated solid substrate is established based on the ...
