ALD‐Assisted VO2 for Memristor Application

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates a strategy for depositing VOx using thermal atomic layer deposition (ALD) followed by thermal annealing to synthesize VO2. The thin film and core/shell wire memristors exhibit excellent switching performance and are highly sensitive to ambient temperature.

Effects of Creep in Titanium at Room Temperature during Tensile and Profilometry‐Based Indentation Plastometry Testing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article concerns room temperature tensile testing, with a range of (nominal) strain rates, of three titanium alloys. Stress–strain curves are analyzed to obtain creep characteristics. Profilometry‐based indentation plastometry testing is also covered, using different penetration velocities, and correlations established with tensile data.

Exploring the Effect of Polymer Addition to the Room Temperature Synthesis of Colloidal Lead Halide Perovskite for Better Stability, Higher Passivation, and More Uniform Particle Size

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the incorporation of the polymer BUTVAR during the synthesis of various perovskite structures at room temperature The study demonstrates that the incorporation of the polymer solution enhances the optical characteristics and improves the shape uniformity of the resultant perovskite material without altering the inherent structure of

High‐Entropy Ti, Zr, Hf, Ta Multiphase Diboride with Deformation Resistance up to 2000 °C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ceramics are brittle and strength decreases with temperature. The multiphase high‐entropy (Ti0.25Ta0.25Hf0.25Zr0.25)B2 with heterogeneity at the nano‐ and microscale demonstrates deformation resistance up to 2000 °C, with maximum bending strength at 1800 °C.

Experimental Study on Flow Boiling Heat Transfer and Pressure Drop Characteristics of R245fa in a Dimpled Flat Tube

open access: yesZhileng xuebao
In this study, the flow boiling heat transfer and pressure drop of R245fa in a dimpled flat tube were experimentally measured. The effects of vapor quality and heat flux were analyzed accordingly.

low Boiling Heat Transfer Characteristics of R290 in 5mm Small-diameter Tubes

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2019
The characteristics of heat transfer for R290 flow boiling in 5 mm small diameter tubes were investigated experimentally with a focus on the effects of heat flux, mass flow rate, and saturation temperature on the surface coefficient of boiling heat ...

Conductive and Radiative Heat Transfer Mechanisms Inform Nusselt Number Dependence on Solid Volume Fraction for Granular Flows [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Granular flows with solid particles play an important role in energy and catalysis applications. To predict thermal performance, this study develops a comprehensive discrete particle tracking flow model fully coupled with conductive and radiative heat transfer.

A Study on Thermal Expansion and Thermomechanical Behavior of Composite Metal Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The coefficient of thermal expansion of steel–steel composite metal foam (S‐S CMF) is shown to be lower than that of bulk stainless steel while its performance under compression demonstrate excellent mechanical stability and strength at all temperatures with gradualsoftening from 400 to 600 °C.

Estimation of thermal properties and boundary heat transfer coefficient of the ground with a Bayesian technique [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Urbanization is the key contributor for climate change. Increasing urbanization rate causes an urban heat island (UHI) effect, which strongly depends on the short- and long-wave radiation balance heat flux between the surfaces. In order to calculate accurately this heat flux, it is required to assess the surface temperature which depends on the ...
