Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Efficiency of use of waste heat energy on the example of Chelyabinsk [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
We consider the possibility of improving the existing heat-suppling system in Chelyabinsk through the introduction of heat pump technology for the disposal of waste low-grade heat.

Improved Heat Demand Prediction of Individual Households [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
One of the options to increase the energy efficiency of current electricity network is the use of a Virtual Power Plant. By using multiple small (micro)generators distributed over the country, electricity can be produced more efficiently since these ...

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Agro-meteorological indices in relation to cotton yield in a Mediterranean environment

open access: yesNotulae Scientia Biologicae
The effect of climate change is an important factor that significantly affects flower and boll production and consequently cotton yield. Field experiment as conducted to study the effect of weather parameters on cotton yield and yield components under ...

Geometric phaselike effects in a quantum heat engine

open access: yes, 2017
By periodically driving the temperatures of reservoirs in quantum heat engines, geometric phase or Pancharatnam-Berry phase-like (PBp) effects in the thermodynamics can be observed.

Enhanced ELF wave generation efficiency using ‘O' mode HF heating

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 1997
We present here signals received near the Tromsø ionospheric heater facility when the heater was modulated with a 505Hz square wave. We found that whereas the harmonics of the square wave (≥ 1515 Hz) showed the accepted behaviour of reduced wave excitation on switching from ‘X' to ‘O' mode HF heating, the fundamental frequency showed enhanced ...
