Oceanic planetary waves in the coupled ocean-atmosphere system [PDF]
The propagation of planetary, or Rossby, waves is studied under the effects of different atmospheric couplings. First, analytical matchings are formulated in which a Rossby wave is coupled to different thermodynamical atmospheres, from a simple heat flux

Polarizable Vanadium Dipoles Promote Water Dissociation on Vanadium‐Based Metal Organic Framework
The polarization of unpaired V 3d electrons weakens the H─O bond to improve water dissociation by the dual Vδ+:O─H and Pλ−:H─O coupling hydrogen bonds formation and relaxation. P@V‐MOF electrocatalyst shows low overpotentials (94 mV in acid, 178 mV in neutral, and 77 mV in alkaline solutions) with excellent stability for effective overall water ...

Spatially Modulated Morphotropic Phase Boundaries in a Compressively Strained Multiferroic Thin Film
ABSTRACT The coexisting rhombohedral‐like (R′, MA) and tetragonal‐like (T′, MC) monoclinic phases in compressively strained bismuth ferrite thin films exhibit exceptional piezoelectric and magnetic properties. While previous studies have largely focused on probing the morphotropic phase boundaries (MPBs) comprising ordered R′/T′ twins, their self ...

Modeling of cryogenic sloshing including heat and mass transfer
The paper discusses heat and mass transfer during sloshing of cryogenic liquids. Experiments have been executed to investigate this. The experimental results are analyzed and CFD tools are used to create a better understanding of the physical processes ...

The nanostructure, size, and function of mRNA‐loaded lipid nanoparticles are evaluated before drying, within polymer microneedles, and after rehydration. The results reveal the polymer and LNP loadings required to recover nanostructure and preserve the delivery performance in dry‐state formulations.

The coupling of motion and conductive heating of a gas by localized energy sources
This paper investigates the time evolution of the near-isobaric flow field produced in a gas after the sudden application of a constant heat flux from a localized energy source.

Adapting dwellings for heat waves
The research presented in this paper investigates combinations of interventions for adapting dwellings to help adequately cope with future heat waves. The effectiveness of a series of passive heat wave mitigating interventions was assessed for Victorian (late 19th century) terraced houses in the UK, using dynamic thermal simulation coupled to a nodal ...

This paper presents a digital microfluidics‐based technique for transferring and reconfiguring soft nanomembranes. Laser‐machined nanothin membranes are picked up, transported, and aligned via tailored surface tension and the actuation of water droplets, enabling the development of flexible electronics, the integration of functional materials on 3D ...

Titanium Suboxides Responsible for Electronic Anomaly Near Room Temperature in the Ti3C2Tx MXene
Our multi‐technique study reveals that the near‐room‐temperature anomaly in Ti3C2Tx MXene is linked to titanium suboxide nanodomains, including Ti3O5, embedded within the MXene host. Their temperature‐driven transformation provides an alternative explanation to solvent‐ and swelling‐based models and offers new insight into the thermally activated ...
