Enhanced Strength and Corrosion Resistance of Ti‐13Nb‐12Ta‐10Zr‐4Sn Alloy by Aging Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work systematically investigates the effect of aging treatment on mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of vacuum arc‐melted Ti‐13Nb‐12Ta‐10Zr‐4Sn alloy. Owing to the increased α″ martensite, strength and corrosion resistance were significantly enhanced by aging treatment.

Stability and wave motion problems in continuous media with second sound [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this thesis we investigate thermal convection and wave motion in models of second sound such as the Cattaneo model, Green and Laws model, Batra model, and Green and Naghdi model. For the Green and Laws and Batra models we also investigate questions of

Thermal receptivity of free convective flow from a heated vertical surface: linear waves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Numerical techniques are used to study the receptivity to small-amplitude thermal disturbances of the boundary layer flow of air which is induced by a heated vertical flat plate.

Three-dimensional analysis reveals diverse heat wave types in Europe

open access: yesCommunications Earth & Environment
Heat waves are among the most studied atmospheric hazards but commonly investigated near-surface temperature patterns provide only limited insight into their complex structure.

Encyclopedia of 2D β′‐In2Se3 Growth Using Chemical Vapor Deposition: The Effects of Synthesis Parameters Onto Material Quality

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A distinct semi‐confined inner‐tube chemical vapor deposition geometry enables reproducible, large‐area growth of phase‐pure 2D β′‐In2Se3 from InI + Se precursors. Engineering local vapor transport and optimizing precursor delivery and temperature–time conditions yield uniform continuous films.

Nonlinear heat waves and some analogies with nonlinear optics

open access: yes, 2020
The linear theory of heat waves is generalized to nonlinear situations in a conservation-dissipation formalism in the context of extended thermodynamics. An analogy with the theory of nonlinear electromagnetic waves is pointed out.

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

The impact of heat waves on children's health : a systematic review

open access: yes, 2014
Young children are thought to be particularly sensitive to heatwaves, but relatively less research attention has been paid to this field to date. A systematic review was conducted to elucidate the relationship between heat waves and children’s health ...
