Local sensitivity analysis of heating degree day and cooling degree day temperature derivative prices

open access: yesQuantitative Finance
We study the local sensitivity of heating degree day (HDD) and cooling degree day (CDD) temperature futures and option prices with respect to perturbations in the deseasonalized temperature or in one of its derivatives up to a certain order determined by the continuous-time autoregressive process modelling the deseasonalized temperature in the HDD and ...

Tumor‐stromal crosstalk and macrophage enrichment are associated with chemotherapy response in bladder cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemoresistance in bladder cancer: Macrophage recruitment associated with CXCL1, CXCL5 and CXCL8 expression is characteristic of Gemcitabine/Cisplatin (Gem/Cis) Non‐Responder tumors (right side) while Responder tumors did not show substantial tumor‐stromal crosstalk (left side). All biological icons are attributed to Bioicons: carcinoma, cancerous‐cell‐

Analysis and selection criteria of photovoltaic panels for DHW

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2017
The article discusses the issue of selecting power of photovoltaic panels for heating domestic hot water (DHW). It is indicated that the price of installation is several times lower than a couple of years ago.

Determination of heating and cooling degree-day values and heating and cooling-days in broiler husbandry: central Anatolian case

open access: yesEngineering for Rural Development, 2018
The general aim of barns is to create suitable environments for animals against adverse weather conditions. Barns should be designed in such a way as to minimize the effect of weather changes and keep indoor conditions at the values of animals' desire.

Multi‐omics and low‐input proteomics profiling reveals dynamic regulation driving pluripotency initiation in early mouse embryos

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Mouse pre‐implantation development involves a transition from totipotency to pluripotency. Integrating transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling, low‐input proteomics and functional assays, we show that eight‐cell embryos retain residual totipotency features, whereas cytoskeletal remodeling regulated by the ubiquitin‐proteasome system drives progression ...

Evaluating past and future building operational emissions: improved method

open access: yesBuildings & Cities
A simple method is presented to improve the evaluation of past and/or future CO2 emissions of heating and/or cooling a building. The degree-day—energy emission coefficient (DD-EEC) method relies on two established techniques.

Quantitative proteomic analysis reveals different characteristics of bladder cancer cells after exposure to bisphenol A

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bisphenol A (BPA), a common chemical in plastics, exerts dual effects on bladder cancer cells: low doses promote growth and migration, while high doses suppress growth and migration. Multi‐omics and bioinformatics reveal BPA acts via MAPK and inflammatory pathways.

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Long-Term Variability and Trends in the Characteristics of Heating Seasons in Central Europe

open access: yesQuaestiones Geographicae
The study analysed the temporal and spatial variability of the changes in the start and end dates and the length of heating seasons (HS), as well as the values of heating degree-days (HDD) in Central Europe from 1961/62 to 2020/21.

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.
