Research on pipeline-type power frequency electromagnetic heating system and multi-layer winding based power regulation method

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
Aiming at the issues of complexity, high investment costs, limited heating efficiency improvement, high failure rate, and poor reliability of traditional intermediate and high frequency electromagnetic heating systems, we propose a pipeline-type power ...

Comparison of the Heat Transfer Efficiency of Nanofluids

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2015
The continuously increasing power involved in many applications, coupled with the very small size of a number of component devices, is pushing the technical community to look for more efficient heat transfer systems, to remove the heat generated and keep the system under controlled operating conditions.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Influence of multi-stage infrared heating on the efficiency and uniformity of asphalt pavement hot in-place recycling

open access: yesAIP Advances
To enhance heating uniformity and efficiency in the hot in-place recycling process of asphalt pavements, a multi-stage infrared intermittent heating method is developed through the creation of a physical and mathematical model for collaborative heating ...

Efficient central heating and modern heat sources

open access: yesMedical Science Pulse, 2013
Background: The methods of heating houses with system components determine the energy-saving systems. Energy-saving solutions allow to maintain comfortable conditions in the house, while minimizing the cost associated with its operation and at the same time helping to protect natural environment.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Cost Liability and Residential Space Heating Expenditures of Welfare Recipients in Germany [PDF]

open access: yes
Within the German welfare system, heating expenditures of recipients are in general fully covered by the government. This paper empirically tests for the hypothesis that households receiving welfare payments turn to over consumption of residential space ...
