A Microwave Heating System for Improving Temperature Uniformity in Heated Tissue*
Journal of Microwave Power, 1979A microwave heating system, designed to improve temperature uniformity in heated tissue, is described. The system employs parallel-opposed waveguide applicators, operating in the TE10 mode at 2450 MHz with the tissue to be heated (i.e. mouse intestine) immersed in a liquid which is both biologically compatible with and dielectrically similar to the ...

Assessment of Heating Rate and Non-uniform Heating in Domestic Microwave Ovens
Journal of Microwave Power and Electromagnetic Energy, 2012Due to the inherent nature of standing wave patterns of microwaves inside a domestic microwave oven cavity and varying dielectric properties of different food components, microwave heating produces non-uniform distribution of energy inside the food. Non-uniform heating is a major food safety concern in not-ready-to-eat (NRTE) microwaveable foods.

Heat Distribution in a Uniform Bar
Nature, 1932THE theory of the potential distribution in a long cable when the head end is insulated after being maintained for some time at a steady potential has been given recently.1 It was pointed out that the reasoning would apply equally well to the case of a long uniform bar which is allowed to cool after one end has been heated.

Abstract A new flow passage arrangement is introduced for parallel-plate heat exchanger for cooling channel walls under uniform heat flux. Heat transfer performance of the new double-pass heat exchanger is compared with those of the corresponding single-pass and original double-pass heat exchangers from wall temperature uniformity viewpoint, because ...

Transient natural convection in a vertical microchannel heated at uniform heat flux
International Journal of Thermal Sciences, 2012Abstract Miniaturization of devices has received a rapid expansion in the recent years and a great volume of research activities have been dedicated to micro-flow due to its new applications of micro-fluidic systems and components. In the present paper, an investigation of transient natural convection in parallel-plate vertical microchannels is ...

Temperature Uniformity in Heating-Up Processes
Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1946Abstract The treatment of temperature-uniformity problems by the method first introduced by Paschkis is extended and enlarged. It is shown that uniformity calculations can be reduced to the solution of a simple trigonometric relation which can be readily solved and analyzed.

Coupled heat transfer through an alveolar structure heated by a uniform heat flux
Materials Today: Proceedings, 2019Abstract Coupled heat transfers through alveolar structures submitted to uniform heat flux are little studied, even for cavities with low aspect ratio. This work presents a numerical study of combined heat transfer through an alveolar structure. The hot wall is heated by a uniform flux while the cold wall is kept isothermal at a constant temperature.

Flow obstacle effect on film boiling heat transfer with uniform and non-uniform axial heat flux
2013An experimental investigation of the effects of axial flux distribution (AFD) and obstacles on film-boiling heat transfer was performed in a vertical tube using HFC-134a as coolant. The following parameters were examined: (1) Axial flux profiles (uniform, inlet-peak and outlet-peak), (2) Flow-blockage ratios (12% and 24%), (3) Obstacle pitches (150 mm ...
