Zone temperature control with underfloor heating systems for residential buildings [PDF]
LAUREA MAGISTRALEThis thesis presents the development of the model of a thermal zone, of a villa and of the underfloor heating radiant panels by using MATLAB environment to build up a simulink model based on parameters from a physical villa.

Nondestructive Testing of Welded Composite Metal Foams
X‐ray computed tomography (CT) is used to evaluate welded steel–steel composite metal foam (CMF) joints of two density classes. It reports variation in postweld spatial void distribution and correlates it to weld‐induced changes, mechanical performance, and failure within welded CMF panels.

Thermal Stress Intensity Factor of a Thin Strip Using Zone Heating [PDF]
A thermal stress field induced by local temperature change near a crack tip often causes a crack extension. In this paper, based on the plane thermoelasticity and linear fracture mechanics, a time dependent thermal stress intensity factor for a edge ...

A distinct semi‐confined inner‐tube chemical vapor deposition geometry enables reproducible, large‐area growth of phase‐pure 2D β′‐In2Se3 from InI + Se precursors. Engineering local vapor transport and optimizing precursor delivery and temperature–time conditions yield uniform continuous films.

Local heating at the running crack tip in bcc iron according to molecular dynamics
This study presents estimates of a possible temperature rise at the crack tip from three dimensional (3D) atomistic simulations of fracture via molecular dynamics (MD) technique. Simulations start from an initial temperature of 0 K. The pre-existing edge

Aluminum and nitride coatings are used in industry because they are hard, resist wear, and protect against oxidation. Adding boron can improve friction behavior and other properties. This study tests coatings on surfaces with different finishes. Results show smoother surfaces perform better, while rough ones wear faster, although coatings can reduce ...

EVALUATION OF ROOT ZONE HEATING IN A COMMERCIAL GREENHOUSE
Tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers are common greenhouse crops in Canada. In order to extend the growing season and reduce energy costs, a plant root heating system has been considered in this thesis.
