Heave Plates with Holes for Floating Offshore Wind Turbines [PDF]
The paper presents an innovative solution which is heave plates with holes. The long-known heave plates are designed to damp the heave motion of platforms. They are most often used for Spar platforms.

Effect of Heave Plates on the Wave Motion of a Flexible Multicolumn FOWT
Three models with different footing types were used to clarify the effect of heave plates on the hydrodynamic behavior of the elastic response of a flexible multicolumn floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT).

Heave Motion of a Vertical Cylinder with Heave Plates [PDF]
The shape of a vertical cylinder resembles the classic form of a spar platform. Spar platforms are floating platforms that are successfully used in waters of great depths and have several advantages that mean they are readily used in the oil industry ...

The effect of heave-face plates on FOWT heave motion: Fluid dynamic analysis [PDF]
Renewable energy technology is a topic that has often been raised in many studies lately. To support the 2020-2024 PRN (National Research Priority) program in the Maritime sector, the Researcher has developed FOWT (Floating Offshore Wind Turbine), a ...

Simulation of the additional damping characteristics of underwater heave plates for mitigating long-span bridges vibration [PDF]
The underwater heave plates (UHPs), which are suspended beneath the bridge by flexible cables, can be temporarily utilized to mitigate bridge flutter.

Heave motion suppression of a Spar with a heave plate [PDF]
Abstract Vortex shedding flow of an oscillating vertical cylinder with a disk attached at its keel is considered. This configuration is of interest for the offshore oil and gas industry. A finite difference method is employed to solve the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations in the primitive-variables formulation.

Vortex patterns generated by a heaving flexible plate [PDF]
We present dye visualizations of the wake behind a flexible plate flow when its leading edge is forced into harmonic heave motion. We show that, when the forcing amplitude is sufficiently large, a reverse Bénard-von Kármán vortex street is formed in the wake, indicative of the production of positive thrust.
