Synergistic Advanced Oxidation and Physicochemical Treatment Strategies for Antibiotic Removal and Resistance Mitigation in Water

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The presence of antibiotics in water not only causes environmental pollution but also increases the growth of antibiotic‐resistant bacterial genes, which pose serious threats to human beings and other water residents. Large numbers of people are reportedly affected by the resistant bacterial genes, as many broad‐spectrum antibiotics are not ...

Scoping literature review: Comparing MRI tractography methods for optic radiation analysis

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Accurate tractography mapping of the optic radiations is essential to avoiding post‐operative visual field deficits in patients undergoing temporal lobe surgery. This literature review highlights the current landscape of MRI tractography methods that are used to delineate the optic radiations (ORs), with a particular focus on the anterior ...

Intact Visual Correlation Detection in Autistic Adults

open access: yesAutism Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The ability to detect recurring temporal co‐occurrence, or temporal correlation, of sensory events is fundamental for organizing perceptual input into coherent representations. Although past work has revealed differences across several aspects of temporal processing in autism, it is unknown whether autistic and non‐autistic individuals differ ...

A heavy-ball type curve search method for smooth convexly constrained optimization

open access: yes
This paper addresses smooth convexly constrained optimization problems where the Euclidean projection onto the feasible set is computationally tractable. Although momentum techniques like Polyak's heavy-ball are known for accelerating optimization algorithms, their use in constrained settings remains limited due to challenges in preserving feasibility ...

Listening to young children with disabilities: Experiences of quality in mainstream primary education

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract All children should have access to quality education through a child‐centred pedagogy. An inclusive, child‐centred pedagogy uses a strength‐based view of children that recognises each child as unique and competent, providing children with multiple opportunities to explore and learn at their own pace.

Accelerated Over-Relaxation Heavy-Ball Method: Achieving Global Accelerated Convergence with Broad Generalization

open access: yes
The heavy-ball momentum method accelerates gradient descent with a momentum term but lacks accelerated convergence for general smooth strongly convex problems. This work introduces the Accelerated Over-Relaxation Heavy-Ball (AOR-HB) method, the first variant with provable global and accelerated convergence for such problems.

Measuring what matters: Evaluating the impact of curriculum decolonisation initiatives in UK business schools

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Curriculum decolonisation has become a prominent feature of equity agendas in UK higher education, yet there remains limited empirical and theoretical work on how such initiatives are evaluated, particularly within business schools. This paper presents one of the first multi‐institutional empirical studies examining how UK business schools ...
