On the identification of the nuclear forward glory in heavy-ion scattering [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal A, 2000
We present a simple method which enables us to identify the occurence of a forward glory in heavy ion scattering data. The method is successfully applied to the elastic scattering data of 12C (65 MeV), 13C (60 MeV), 15N (85 MeV) and 16O (75 MeV) on 28Si ...

Inelastic scattering of heavy ions

Physical Review C, 1975
Angular distributions and excitation functions for elastic and inelastic scattering have been measured with $^{16}\mathrm{O}$, $^{18}\mathrm{O}$, and $^{32}\mathrm{S}$ projectiles on Ca, Ni, Mo, and Sn isotopes. The experimental data show oscillations in the angular distributions which are more pronounced for projectile excitations than for target ...

Effects of triple scattering in heavy-ion reactions

Physical Review C, 1995
This work studies the effect of a high-density correction to the Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck (BUU) dynamics, i.e., the inclusion of triple scattering in heavy-ion reactions at intermediate incident energies. By using both schematic model calculations and the modified BUU simulations with triple scatterings incorporated, it has been suggested that the ...

Nuclear Rotation in Heavy-Ion Scattering

Physical Review Letters, 1972
The possibility is discussed that the observed energy dependence of the real part of the optical potential in $^{16}\mathrm{O}$-$^{16}\mathrm{O}$ elastic scattering arises from rotation of nuclei induced by their interaction. An estimate indicates that the effect may have the required magnitude.

Scattering of heavy ions in crystals

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1994
Abstract A physical model is constructed to describe the recapture of low energy heavy ions into axial channels in kinetic approach (rechanneling effect). This model includes the main essential physical processes.

Chaotic scattering in heavy-ion collisions

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1992
We demonstrate that the classical dynamics of a collision between a spherical nucleus and a deformed one at energies near the Coulomb barrier can display chaotic behavior, provided the deformed nucleus is not too heavy. The chaotic scattering is produced by sets of trajectories which are trapped in the potential pocket for a time longer than the one ...

Polarization in Heavy-Ion Scattering

1976
Elastic-scattering polarization P and inelastic-scattering spin-flip probabilities P1 are calculated in a model1) for the spin-orbit interaction. The model considers a single valence orbit bound to a spin-zero core. Both 13C and 15N can be so considered, since their 1p1/2 spectroscopic factors S are large2).

An interaction potential for heavy-ion scattering

Nuclear Physics A, 1974
Abstract The long-range part of the nucleus-nucleus interaction is taken to be given by folding the density distribution of one nucleus with the real part of the single-nucleon optical potential of the other. Analytic approximations are derived for the folded potential and its derivative in the case where the density distribution and single-nucleon ...

Parity dependence in heavy-ion scattering [PDF]

open access: possibleNuclear Physics A, 1986
Abstract The parity dependence of collisions between p- and sd-shell nuclei is studied microscopically in the two-centre harmonic oscillator model. A simple rule giving the sign of the odd-even part of the potential is established. Besides the well-known dependence on the nucleon-number difference, a marked variation of the parity effect with the ...
