Initial Parton Distribution just after Heavy Ion Collisions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We study the initial distribution of a parton system which is formed just after relativistic heavy ion collision by the elastic scattering among the constituent partons in details and analyze the baryon and strangeness contents of the primary parton ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Discovery and Targeted Proteomic Studies Reveal Striatal Markers Validated for Huntington's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Clinical trials for Huntington's disease (HD) enrolling persons before clinical motor diagnosis (CMD) lack validated biomarkers. This study aimed to conduct an unbiased discovery analysis and a targeted examination of proteomic biomarkers scrutinized by clinical validation. Methods Cerebrospinal fluid was obtained from PREDICT‐HD and

Single- and double-scattering production of four muons in ultraperipheral PbPb collisions at the Large Hadron Collider

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2018
We discuss production of two μ+μ− pairs in ultraperipheral ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions at the LHC. We take into account electromagnetic (two-photon) double-scattering production and for a first time direct γγ production of four muons in one ...

Recent results for UPC at the LHC [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2019
Ultraperipheral heavy ion collisions are a source of photons which can collide with each other producing a pair of particles. This work will be focused on analysis of the light-by-light scattering.

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Multiplicity Dependence of Heavy-Flavour Hadron Decay Electron Production in Collisions at √sNN = 8.16 Measured with ALICE at the LHC

open access: yesProceedings, 2019
A Large Ion Collider Experiment (ALICE) at the Large Hadron collider (LHC) is a heavy-ion dedicated experiment designed to study nuclear matter at extreme condition of high temperature and high density at which quarks are deconfined and give rise to a ...

Reflection of keV light ions from solids at oblique and grazing incidence [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Technology and Radiation Protection, 2009
The particle reflection coefficient of light keV ions backscattered from heavy targets has been determined by two different analytical approaches: by the single collision model in the case of nearly perpendicular incidence and by the small-angle multiple

Enhanced Gamma Radiation Shielding Using Epoxy Quartz Fabric Composites Reinforced With CoCl2 Microparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The growing demand for lightweight, nontoxic, and multifunctional gamma shielding materials has intensified efforts to find alternatives to conventional lead and aluminum‐based protectants. In this work, we develop epoxy quartz fabric composites reinforced with cobalt chloride (CoCl2) microparticles, fabricated via hand lay‐up with varying filler ...
