Monte Carlo Eikonal Scattering
Monte Carlo evaluation is used to calculate heavy-ion elastic scattering including the center-of-mass correction and the Coulomb interaction.Angular distributions are presented for a number of nuclear pairs over a wide energy range using nucleon-nucleon ...

Overview of heavy-flavour measurements in ALICE
ALICE is devoted to the study of the properties of the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP). This state of matter is created in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions at the LHC.

Scenario for Ultrarelativistic Nuclear Collisions: Space--Time Picture of Quantum Fluctuations and the Birth of QGP [PDF]
We study the dynamics of quantum fluctuations which take place at the earliest stage of high-energy processes and the conditions under which the data from e-p deep-inelastic scattering may serve as an input for computing the initial data for heavy-ion ...

Electric control of magnetic tunnel junctions offers a path to drastically reduce the energy requirements of the device. Electric field control of magnetization can be realized in a multitude of ways. These mechanisms can be integrated into existing spintronic devices to further reduce the operational energy.

Impact of Various Beam Parameters on Lateral Scattering in Proton and Carbon-ion Therapy
Background: In radiation therapy with ion beams, lateral distributions of absorbed dose in the tissue are important. Heavy ion therapy, such as carbon-ion therapy, is a novel technique of high-precision external radiotherapy which has advantages over ...

Recent heavy flavor results from STAR
We report on recent heavy flavor measurements from the STAR experiment at RHIC. The measured charm cross section in heavy-ion collisions scales with the number of binary collisions, which is an indication for exclusive charm production in the initial ...

Dileptons and Medium Effects in Heavy-Ion Collisions [PDF]
We discuss the status of calculating in-medium modifications of vector-meson spectral functions in hot and dense matter, their application to dilepton spectra in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions, and possible relations to chiral symmetry ...

This study demonstrates that pulsed potential electrolysis significantly improves CO2 reduction performance on copper‐nitrogen doped carbon electrodes. The formation of cationic copper sites and metallic clusters as a function of applied intermittent potential leads to notable selectivity changes compared to potentiostatic reduction.

Hydrodynamization of charm quarks in heavy-ion collisions [PDF]
Heavy quarks (i.e. charm and beauty) in heavy-ion collisions are initially produced out of kinetic equilibrium via hard partonic scattering processes.

Low-x improved TMD approach to the lepto- and hadroproduction of a heavy-quark pair
We study the lepto- and hadroproduction of a heavy-quark pair in the ITMD factorization framework for dilute-dense collisions. Due to the presence of a nonzero quark mass and/or nonzero photon virtuality, new contributions appear compared to the cases of
