Growth and Shape of a Chain Fountain [PDF]

open access: yesEurophysics Letters 2014 vol 106 no 4 page 44001, 2014
If a long chain is held in a pot elevated a distance h_1 above the floor, and the end of the chain is then dragged over the rim of the pot and released, the chain flows under gravity down into a pile on the floor. Not only does the chain flow out of the pot, it also leaps above the pot in a "chain-fountain".

Surfaceome: a new era in the discovery of immune evasion mechanisms of circulating tumor cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the era of immunotherapies, many patients either do not respond or eventually develop resistance. We propose to pave the way for proteomic analysis of surface‐expressed proteins called surfaceome, of circulating tumor cells. This approach seeks to identify immune evasion mechanisms and discover potential therapeutic targets. Circulating tumor cells (

Triple immunoglobulin gene knockout transchromosomic cattle: bovine lambda cluster deletion and its effect on fully human polyclonal antibody production. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Towards the goal of producing fully human polyclonal antibodies (hpAbs or hIgGs) in transchromosomic (Tc) cattle, we previously reported that Tc cattle carrying a human artificial chromosome (HAC) comprising the entire unrearranged human immunoglobulin ...

Monoclonal gammopathy of renal significance: Spectrum of diseases and approach to a case

open access: yesSaudi Journal of Kidney Diseases and Transplantation, 2021
The occurrence of kidney diseases associated with a monoclonal gammopathy in the absence of symptomatic multiple myeloma is increasingly recognized. When the kidney is involved, the monoclonal etiology of these diseases results in clinical and laboratory

Polyfunctional CD8+CD226+RUNX2hi effector T cells are diminished in advanced stages of chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CD226+CD8+ T cells express elevated levels of RUNX2, exhibit higher proliferation capacity, cytokines and cytolytic molecules expression, and migratory capacity. In contrast, CD226−CD8+ T cells display an exhausted phenotype associated with the increased expression of co‐inhibitory receptors and impaired effector functions.

Structural, Biophysical, and Computational Studies of a Murine Light Chain Dimer

open access: yesMolecules
Antibodies are widely used in medicinal and scientific research due to their ability to bind to a specific antigen. Most often, antibodies are composed of heavy and light chain domains. Under physiological conditions, light chains are produced in excess,

An Overview of Heavy Chain Ferritin in Cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioscience-Landmark, 2023
As a spherical protein that acts as a repository for intracellular iron, Ferritin is the most important iron storage form and is known to influence tumor immunity.

Phenomenology of the minimal B-L extension of the Standard model: Z' and neutrinos [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev.D80:055030,2009, 2008
We present the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) discovery potential in the $Z'$ and heavy neutrino sectors of a $U(1)_{B-L}$ enlarged Standard Model also encompassing three heavy Majorana neutrinos. This model exhibits novel signatures at the LHC, the most interesting arising from a $Z'$ decay chain involving heavy neutrinos, eventually decaying into ...

Clinical significance of stratifying prostate cancer patients through specific circulating genes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We tested a specific panel of genes representative of luminal, neuroendocrine and stem‐like cells in the blood of prostate cancer patients, showing predictive value from diagnosis to late stages of disease. This approach allows monitoring of treatment responses and outcomes at specific time points in trajectories.

Somatic populations of PGT135-137 HIV-1-neutralizing antibodies identified by 454 pyrosequencing and bioinformatics

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2012
Select HIV-1-infected individuals develop sera capable of neutralizing diverse viral strains. The molecular basis of this neutralization is currently being deciphered by the isolation of HIV-1-neutralizing antibodies.
