HGDNet: A Height-Hierarchy Guided Dual-Decoder Network for Single View Building Extraction and Height Estimation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Unifying the correlative single-view satellite image building extraction and height estimation tasks indicates a promising way to share representations and acquire generalist model for large-scale urban 3D reconstruction. However, the common spatial misalignment between building footprints and stereo-reconstructed nDSM height labels incurs degraded ...

Growth models of black poplar trees, section Aigeiros (Duby) [PDF]

open access: yesGlasnik Šumarskog Fakulteta: Univerzitet u Beogradu, 2006
Different courses of tree growth in height and diameter in nursery and plantation, immediately after transplanting, cause the difficulties in adaptation of tree growth models.

Correlation Between Increase of Axial Length and Height Growth in Chinese School-Age Children

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health, 2022
PurposeTo identify the relationship between the increase in axial length (AL) and height in school-age children and explore the influence of refractive status on such a relationship.MethodsIn this 5-year cohort study, 414 Chinese children (237 boys) aged

An open chat with…Pierre Santucci: a testimonial on why we should engage with scientific societies and their journals

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pierre SANTUCCI is a principal investigator at the CNRS—Aix Marseille Université and recipient of a FEBS Excellence Award. He was also recently appointed FEBS Open Bio Publishing Liaison Officer. In this Open Chat with…, he discusses the importance of engaging with scientific societies and their journals, and highlights through some of his personal ...

An approach for coherent periodogram averaging of tilt‐series data for improved contrast transfer function estimation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The contrast transfer function (CTF) is an imaging aberration that is a major resolution‐limiting factor in cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM). Precise CTF estimation is key to overcoming this limitation, but is particularly challenging in cryo‐electron tomography (cryo‐ET) data. Here, we present an approach for using geometric information to assist in

Signed Heights of Knotoids [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The height of a knotoid is a measure of how far it is from being a knot. Here we define the positive and negative parts of the height, and we prove that they determine the unsigned height. Some polynomial invariants provide lower bounds for the signed heights. We also study a set of sequences associated to a knotoid.

SHLE: Devices Tracking and Depth Filtering for Stereo-based Height Limit Estimation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Recently, over-height vehicle strike frequently occurs, causing great economic cost and serious safety problems. Hence, an alert system which can accurately discover any possible height limiting devices in advance is necessary to be employed in modern large or medium sized cars, such as touring cars. Detecting and estimating the height limiting devices

Risk of thyroid cancer in relation to height, weight, and body mass index in Japanese individuals: a population‐based cohort study

open access: yesCancer Medicine, 2018
Greater height and body mass index (BMI) have been associated with an increased risk of thyroid cancer incidence in Western countries. However, few epidemiological studies have assessed the association between anthropometric factors, such as BMI, height,

Height functions for motives [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
We define various height functions for motives over number fields. We compare these height functions with classical height functions on algebraic varieties, and also with analogous height functions for variations of Hodge structures on curves over C. These comparisons provide new questions on motives over number fields.
