Identification of QTL Underlying Plant Height and First Branch Height of Cassava

Philippine Journal of Science, 2022
This study sought to develop a genetic map of cassava based on 91 progenies derived from a cross between “Rayong 60” (R60) and “Piroon 1” (PR1) cultivars. A total of 4,515 simple sequence repeat (SSR) primer pairs were screened against the parental lines and six progenies resulting in 656 informative polymorphic markers, which were then used to ...

PLANT HEIGHT FORMATION IN DIFFERENT CULTIVARS OF KALANCHOE

Acta Horticulturae, 2005
The control of plant height is of great importance in pot plant production. In the present work, data from greenhouse experiments and from a grower were used to evaluate plant height in several kalanchoe cultivars and to study the seasonal pattern in plant height.

An ESS for the Height of a Plant Population, or an Optimal Height for an Individual?—Rethinking Game-Theoretic Models for Plant Height

Bulletin of Mathematical Biology, 2006
Plants only interact with neighbors over restricted distances, so local conditions are of great significance for plants. It is therefore important to consider spatial structure and neighborhood effects if we are to understand plants' strategies. We constructed a spatially-explicit, game theory model to explore optimal height growth at the individual ...

Functional Diversity of Alpine Plant Communities: A Case Study of Plant Height

Biology Bulletin Reviews, 2020
The parameters of functional diversity are studied on the example of plant height for four alpine communities (alpine lichen heaths, Festuca varia grasslands Hedysarum-Geranium meadows, and alpine snowbed communities) in Teberda Reserve of the northwestern Caucasus.

Genetic analysis of plant height in wheat

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1974
Genetic studies of plant height were made of 8 wheats and the 28 crosses between them using the diallel method of analysis. The inheritance of plant height in a glasshouse-grown F1 diallel set in which vernalization and photoperiodic responses had been removed, indicated close to complete dominance in its expression.

Suppressive effect of microRNA319 expression on rice plant height

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 2017
KEY MESSAGE: miR319 was identified as a dwarf-inducing gene from Shiokari and its dwarf near isogenic line, and its transgenic rice showed a reduced plant height. This finding reveals the potential application of miR319 in future molecular breeding.

THE IMPACT OF FOLIAR FERTILIZERS ON HEIGHT OF BEAN PLANT

Acta Horticulturae, 2009
We investigated the effects of the foliar fertilisers - Algazor, Liksal S, Liksal N and Liksal K in the doses of 2 L/ha, 4 L/ha and 8 L/ha - on plant height in three-year trials. By applying the variance analysis and the method of the two factorial experiments, we recorded highly significant effects some of foliar fertilisers on the plant height as ...

Control of Plant Height

2000
Control of plant height is important for agriculture, because plant height determines the mechanical stability of many crop plants. Resistance to wind, logging resistance, efficiency of light usage, microclimate, but also the partitioning of biomass from vegetative to reproductive structures are traits that depend directly or indirectly on plant height.

Factors Affecting Plant Height and Yield of Eggplant

Journal of Sustainable Agriculture, 1997
ABSTRACT Examination of the interaction of environment and cultural methods will lead to a better understanding of the development of eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) and contribute to sustained yield. Seedlings were transplanted on 16 April 1991 and 21 July 1992 into soil left bare or treated with black spray-on or black plastic mulch.

The allometry of safety‐factors for plant height

American Journal of Botany, 1994
Regression curves for the relation between the critical buckling height Hcrit, and the diameter D of columnar support members composed exclusively of different tissues were established based on Greenhill's formula and previously reported mean values for the density‐specific stiffness and density‐specific strength of parenchyma, primary xylem ...
