Genomic alterations in the interspecific hybrid Helianthus annuus×Helianthus tuberosus

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1998
The genome of a Helianthus annuus (2n=34) ×Helianthus tuberosus (2n=102) hybrid was studied at cytological, biochemical and molecular levels and compared to those of the parental species. Cytophotometric analyses showed that the hybrid has a 4C DNA content higher than expected and with a larger variability than in the parents.

Helianthus tuberosus

Zhurnal «Patologicheskaia fiziologiia i eksperimental`naia terapiia», 2022

Furanoheliangolides from helianthus schweinitzii

Phytochemistry, 1984
Abstract The two furanoheliangolides budlein A and a new compound, ° 4,15 -isoatripliciolide tiglate, were isolated from the hexaploid sunflower Helianthus schweinitzii . Budlein A has been previously isolated from H. angustifolius , a diploid species suggested as a possible progenitor of H. schweinitzii .

Identification of MicroRNAs and their targets in Helianthus

Molecular Biology Reports, 2011
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs about 20-24 nucleotides long, playing regulatory role. The conserved nature among the various organisms makes them a good source of new miRNAs discovery by comparative genomics approach using bioinformatic tools. A systematic search approach was used for inter-species homologs of miRNA precursors (pre-miRNAs)

Meiosis and pollen grain viability in Helianthus mollis, Helianthus salicifolius, Helianthus maximiliani and their F1 hybrids with cultivated sunflower

Euphytica, 1995
Three diploid perennial sunflower species are useful for variety improvement: Helianthus mollis, because of sessile leaves, H. salicifolius, because of a high oil concentration, and H. maximiliani, a potential source of resistance to Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. The crossability of these species to cultivated sunflower was examined.

Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.)

2014
Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) is still considered as a recalcitrant species to in vitro culture and transformation in spite of the publication of different protocols. Here we describe a routine transformation system of this crop which requires mature HA89 genotype seeds and Agrobacterium tumefaciens EHA105 strain for gene delivery, being both easily
