A reconstruction method for helical computed tomography

1997 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2002
This paper presents a method for volumetric reconstruction from helical computerized tomography (H-CT) data which are collected with a fan beam source. An interpretation of the H-CT data in terms of the axial computerized tomography (A-CT) data is provided.

Helical computed tomography of renal lesions

Current Opinion in Urology, 1999
Helical computed tomography is a new technique that acquires a volumetric data set of both kidneys within a single breath-hold. It has proved to be superior to conventional computed tomography. Multiphasic helical computed tomography after the administration of contrast material shows advantages concerning the detection and characterization of renal ...

Helical Computed Tomography for Abdominal Imaging

World Journal of Surgery, 1996
AbstractSignificant technologic advances have taken place in computed tomography (CT). Current‐generation conventional CT scanners are able to image a slice of tissue in as little as 2 to 3 seconds and can acquire several consecutive images. Although it is a substantial improvement from the CT of 5 years ago, there remain practical limits to the ...

Helical Computed Tomography of Bowel and Mesenteric Injuries

The Journal of Trauma: Injury, Infection and Critical Care, 2001
The role of computed tomography in diagnosing hollow viscus injury after blunt abdominal trauma remains controversial, with previous studies reporting both high accuracy and poor results. This study was performed to determine the diagnostic accuracy of helical computed tomography in detecting bowel and mesenteric injuries after blunt abdominal trauma ...

Liver Imaging with Multidetector Helical Computed Tomography

Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography, 2003
The speed and flexibility of multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) have led to improvements in liver imaging, particularly related to the detection and characterization of focal lesions. This report discusses the different phase of liver enhancement following the bolus administration of iodinated contrast material, and the enhancement pattern of ...

Helical computed tomography for the evaluation of tracheal stenosis

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1995
Helical computed tomography with multiplanar reconstruction (CT/MPR) was used to study proximal airway stenosis.Twenty-eight helical CT/MPR studies were obtained in 25 patients with known or suspected stenosis of the trachea or main bronchi. Computed tomographic results were compared with planar tomograms and bronchoscopic evaluation of the airway.CT ...

Tracheal agenesis: evaluation by helical computed tomography

Pediatric Radiology, 2000
We present a newborn infant with type II tracheal agenesis. Helical CT was performed and confirmed the diagnosis. Retrospective coronal and sagittal multiplanar reconstructions clearly demonstrated the complex anatomy of the malformation. The absence of a significant portion of healthy trachea did not present any possibility for surgical correction.

Pancreatic Carcinoma: Applications for Helical Computed Tomography

Endoscopy, 1997
Helical computed tomography (CT) represents a significant technical improvement over conventional (incremental) CT. This noninvasive imaging technique is now routinely used in the evaluation of patients with suspected pancreatic cancer. This paper focuses on the topics of CT technique (scanning parameters, use of intravenous contrast media, use of oral

Sonography and Helical Computed Tomography of the Sternalis Muscle

Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine, 2007
The sternalis muscle is an unusual variant of the chest wall musculature. Awareness of its appearance on axial, coronal, and sagittal computed tomography (CT) as well as sonography is needed to diagnose this normal variant and prevent unnecessary workup with further imaging or biopsy.
