Trajectories of artificial microswimmers with helical tails inside circular channels [PDF]

open access: possible, 2016
Trajectories are obtained for millimeter-scale artificial microswimmers inside circular channels filled with glycerol. Rotating magnetic field is applied to propel 3D-printed swimmers with helical tails and permanent magnetic heads. Experiments are recorded with a high-speed camera and processed with contrast-based image processing tools to extract 3D ...

Magnetic helical microswimmers in poiseuille flow

2014
We analyze the motion of artificial magnetic microswimmers which mimic the swimming of natural organisms at low Reynolds numbers. Artificial magnetic microswimmers consist of a rigidly connected helical tail and a magnetic head. Magnetic swimmers are actuated with three orthogonal electromagnetic coil pairs.

Image-based visual servoing of helical microswimmers for arbitrary planar path following at low reynolds numbers

2017 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS), 2017
Magnetically actuated microswimmers have shown great potentials in multiple application scenarios, attracting researchers to investigate their swimming characteristics and controlling methods. However, among those studies, only a small number of closed-loop control schemes have been applied, which is crucial for the accuracy and repeatability in ...

Two-Photon Polymerization 3D-Templated Thermal-Responsive Helical Adaptive Microswimmers

Journal of Medical Robotics Research
This paper presents the design, fabrication, and characterization of thermal-responsive helical adaptive microswimmers. Utilizing a two-photon polymerization (TPP) technique, these microswimmers were fabricated with a NIPAM-based hydrogel and iron oxide nanoparticles, allowing for controlled deformation in response to temperature variations.
