Lateral Performance of Large-Capacity Helical Piles
IFCEE 2015, 2015The lateral performance of large-capacity helical piles is of significant interest because they can offer an efficient alternative to conventional piling systems in many applications. This paper presents the results of two field lateral load tests conducted on 6.0 m and 9.0 m large-capacity helical piles installed in cohesive soil.

Lateral Resistance of Helical Piles in Oil Sands
Contemporary Topics in Deep Foundations, 2009Although there are several methods available for estimating the axial capacities of helical piles, there is little literature available on the lateral performance of helical piles. The results of a lateral pile load test program and field monitoring of helical piles with either single or double helixes installed in oil sand soil are presented in this ...

Osterberg Cell Load Testing on Helical Piles
Geo-Frontiers 2011, 2011Helical piles are structural, deep foundation elements used as a means to transfer the applied axial and horizontal loads, and overturning moments from the superstructure to the soil substructure, within a specified criterion. The design process is complex and incorporates various degrees of uncertainties.

Helical Anchor Piles Under Lateral Loading
1984Anchors are used in civil engineering practice to provide resistance against uplift and overturning forces for structures such as transmission line towers, aircraft mooring, pipelines, offshore structures, mobile homes, and so forth. Although there are a wide variety of anchor types available, helical screw anchors, consisting of a steel shaft to which

A study of helical pile design and construction practices
2015ABSTRACT Helical piles as a foundation solution have experienced a re-emergence in recent years in the United Kingdom, with road and rail authorities eager adopters to permit fast construction with relatively lower construction mobilisation requirements than traditional foundation solutions.

Design of Helical Piles for Heavily Loaded Structures
New Technological and Design Developments in Deep Foundations, 2000Over the past 20 years the square shaft solid steel helical screw pile has come into expanded use as a permanent deep foundation element in new construction of heavily loaded structures, i.e., column loads in excess of 445 kN (100,000 lbs). This increased use, along with recognition by every national building code in the United States of at least one ...

Modelling thermal performance of helical steel piles
Helical steel piles (HSPs) are a specialized type ofenergy pile designed to efficiently integrate geothermal energyinto building foundations. Traditionally used as structuralsupports, HSPs can also function as heat exchangers, reducinginstallation costs and complexity compared to conventionalgeothermal systems that require extensive borehole drilling ...Di Liddo, Anthony +2 more
