WEBT multiwavelength monitoring and XMM-Newton observations of BL Lacertae in 2007-2008. Unveiling different emission components [PDF]
In 2007-2008 we carried out a new multiwavelength campaign of the Whole Earth Blazar Telescope (WEBT) on BL Lacertae, involving three pointings by the XMM-Newton satellite, to study its emission properties.

COMPRESSIVE CAPACITY OF HELICAL PILE FOUNDATION ON PEAT WITH VARIATION OF HELICAL PLATE DIAMETER
<p>The use of helical foundations to support structures on peat soil is still a new method. Research is needed to develop this foundation. There are 6 types of helical foundation tested on peat soil. To study the effect of helical plate diameter, plate diameters were varied with sizes 25 cm (M), 35 cm (L), and 45 cm (G).

We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Settlement based load capacity curve for single helix helical pile in c - ϕ soil
Helical piles are getting increasingly popular for lightweight engineering applications. Currently, the helical pile is mostly designed with torque capacity; however, it cannot explain the foundation's anticipated settlement.

Investigating the peculiar emission from the new VHE gamma-ray source H1722+119 [PDF]
The MAGIC (Major Atmospheric Gamma-ray Imaging Cherenkov) telescopes observed the BL Lac object H1722+119 (redshift unknown) for six consecutive nights between 2013 May 17 and 22, for a total of 12.5 h. The observations were triggered by high activity in

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

A Machine Learning-Based Approach for Predicting Installation Torque of Helical Piles from SPT Data
Helical piles are advantageous alternatives in constructions subjected to high tractions in their foundations, like transmission towers. Installation torque is a key parameter to define installation equipment and the final depth of the helical pile. This

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...

Laboratory Investigation of the Behavior of Helical Piles under Monotonic Loading at Different Loading Speeds [PDF]
Today, one of the primary challenges faced by geotechnical engineers in dealing with problematic soils is to choose a suitable improvement method that, in addition to strengthening the soil, does not cause harmful damage to the environment. Helical piles
