Performance of helical piles in oil sand
Canadian Geotechnical Journal, 2009The results of a comprehensive pile load-test program and observations from field monitoring of helical piles with either a single helix or double helixes installed in oil sand are presented in this paper. Eleven full-scale pile load tests were carried out including axial compression, uplift, and lateral load tests.

Physical modelling of helical pile anchors
International Journal of Physical Modelling in Geotechnics, 2007Helical piles design is based usually on empirical correlations between the uplift capacity and the torque resistance of the pile during installation. A simplified theoretical relationship to predict the uplift capacity of deep helical piles in sand from the installation torque was reported.

Bulletin of Engineering Geology and the Environment, 2021
In recent years, the use of helical piles as a deep foundation option for structures has increased dramatically because they offer definite advantages over other solutions. The present study undertook a comprehensive investigation of the axial compressive behavior of helical piles in both sandy and clayey types of soil using finite element (FE ...

Helical Piles as a Novel Foundation System for Offshore Piled Facilities
Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference, 2015Abstract Driven piles are used to support the majority of offshore oil and gas structures with jacket structures supported by axially loaded piles still remaining the most common form of fixed offshore platform. Piles for conventional platforms are normally driven open-ended steel piles.

Performance of Helical Piles with Grouted Shafts
New Technological and Design Developments in Deep Foundations, 2000A new foundation system employing in-situ grouting of helical screw piles has recently been developed. As the anchor is installed into the soil, a column of grout is "pulled down" around the anchor shaft providing an in-situ grouted shaft. This foundation system has been successfully employed at several sites with very soft soils overlying a more ...
