Trends in Endoscopist Reporting Rates of Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Diseases in Japan Evaluated by the Japan Endoscopy Database Project

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
We analyzed 9,940,870 endoscopic procedures from the Japanese Endoscopy Database (2015–2023), identifying 9,669 eosinophilic gastrointestinal disease (EGID) cases. The prevalence of eosinophilic esophagitis, gastritis, and duodenitis increased significantly (p < 0.001), while enteritis and colitis remained unchanged (p = 0.136). EoE rose from 36 cases (

Severe Gastroduodenitis Associated With Ulcerative Colitis After Total Colectomy Successfully Treated With Endoscopic Hemostasis and Oral Tacrolimus

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Herein, we report a rare case of gastroduodenitis associated with ulcerative colitis (UC). A 42‐year‐old man was diagnosed with UC 1 year prior to admission to our hospital. The patient underwent a 3‐stage total colectomy and ileal pouch‐anal anastomosis for severe UC.

Intramucosal Alpha‐Fetoprotein‐producing Early Gastric Cancer Without Vascular Invasion or Metastasis Diagnosed After Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection: A Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Alpha‐fetoprotein‐producing gastric cancer (AFPGC) is a rare histological subtype of gastric cancer that is often diagnosed at an advanced stage. Enhanced Visualization of the Distal Myotomy Endpoint during Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy Using Indocyanine Green With Infrared Imaging

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
Indocyanine green with infrared imaging (ICG‐IRI) provides real‐time fluorescence visualization of the distal myotomy endpoint during peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM). In this study of 39 patients, ICG‐IRI achieved a 94.9% success rate in fluorescence detection and significantly improved esophageal relaxation and symptoms.

Gastric Kaposi Sarcoma With Distinct “Lobster‐Like” Endoscopic Lesions in a Human Immunodeficiency Virus‐Positive Patient

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Kaposi Sarcoma (KS) is a rare vascular tumor linked to Human Herpesvirus‐8 (HHV‐8) infection, most often affecting immunocompromised patients with Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS). Gastrointestinal KS (GI‐KS) is frequently underdiagnosed, particularly in resource‐limited settings, and may present with ...
