Role of Wetland Plants and Use of Ornamental Flowering Plants in Constructed Wetlands for Wastewater Treatment: A Review

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
The vegetation in constructed wetlands (CWs) plays an important role in wastewater treatment. Popularly, the common emergent plants in CWs have been vegetation of natural wetlands.

Factores climáticos y su influencia en la expresión de enfermedades fúngicas en cultivares de Heliconias

open access: yesUniversitas Scientiarum, 2013
One of the factors limiting the production of heliconias in Colombia is fungal disease, which is influenced by climatic conditions that determine the development of the disease cycle.

Phylogenetic history shapes the composition of floral scents in a specialized pollination mutualism

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 250, Issue 5, Page 3428-3443, June 2026.
Summary Most studies of the chemical ecology of plant–pollinator interactions emphasize the role of pollinator‐mediated selection in shaping floral scent composition. Nevertheless, phylogeny may constrain the metabolic pathways underlying these profiles, thereby influencing the evolutionary trajectory of the emitted signals.

Phylogenetic insights into Dyopsinae (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae): Resolving the systematic position of Thiacidinae

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 2, April‐June 2026.
In this study, a new phylogenetic study reclassifies the moth subfamilies Dyopsinae and Thiacidinae. For the first time, Thiacidas postica—the type species of Thiacidinae—was sequenced and shown to belong within Dyopsinae, in the Ceroctena clade. As a result, Thiacidinae is reinstated as the tribe Thiacidini (stat. nov.) within Dyopsinae.

A review of non‐native scale insects (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha: Coccoidea) of Australia and the challenges in maintaining current and accurate pest lists

open access: yesAustral Entomology, Volume 65, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract Over 870 species of scale insects, also called coccoids (infraorder Coccomorpha), have been recorded from Australia. Here, we systematically review literature, databases and collections to provide a revised assessment of non‐native species to Australia, for which we confirm those species that are introduced and extant in Australia (including ...

Migration Patterns of Epiphyllous Bryophyte Metapopulations in Amazonian Fragmented Landscape Inferred From Census and Genomic Data

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 5, September 2025.
We examined the long‐term genetic consequences of habitat fragmentation on two epiphyllous bryophyte species in experimentally fragmented Amazonian forests. Using genotyping and demographic data, we found species‐specific responses and metapopulation dynamics in relation to their mating system.
