Dynamic Test Particle Simulations of X‐Ray Emissions at Dayside Magnetopause Under Time‐Varying Solar Wind Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 130, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract The Latmos Test Particle (LaTeP) model is a steady‐state test particle code to investigate the solar wind charge exchange soft X‐ray emissions of the steady‐state Earth magnetosphere. In this study, we present the development of a new dynamic version (D‐LaTeP) extending the LaTeP model to adapt to time‐varying solar wind conditions.

Simulations of Coronal Mass Ejection Injection into the Inner Heliosphere with Displacement of the Heliospheric Magnetic Field

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulations are a useful tool for understanding the propagation of coronal mass ejections (CMEs) in the inner heliosphere and their interaction with the background solar wind.

3D pressure-corrected ballistic extrapolation of solar wind speed in the inner heliosphere

open access: yesJournal of Space Weather and Space Climate
Solar wind parameters at different locations in the inner heliosphere can be estimated using various solar wind extrapolation methods. The simple ballistic method extrapolates solar wind parameters from the point of measurement to a chosen heliospheric ...

Division II: The Sun and Heliosphere: (Le Soleil et Heliosphere) [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the International Astronomical Union, 2000
Division II consists of Commissions 10 (Solar Activity), 12 (Solar Radiation and Structure), and 49 (Interplanetary Plasma and Heliosphere). More detailed information on IAU activities in each of these three areas can be found in the individual reports of the respective Commissions. The Division II OC briefly considered changes to the structure of our ...

A Comparison of MAVEN SIR Observations With the Stationary WSA‐ENLIL Solar Wind Model

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 130, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract Predicting times of arrival and properties of space weather events, such as coronal mass ejections and stream interaction regions (SIRs), has become an important focus of the space physics community within recent years. Extensive efforts have been undertaken to model these space weather events throughout the heliosphere in order to better ...

Radiation Transport Through the Martian Atmosphere as a Function of the Zenith Angle

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 130, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract The topographic influence of the radiation environment on the Martian surface radiation is crucial for future human exploration. Topographic maps help assess radiation flux variations, aiding in hazard evaluation. Creating a global radiation map requires accounting for seasonally varying atmospheric density, heliospheric modulation, and ...

Collisionless Shocks as a Diagnostic Tool for Understanding Energetic Particle Transport in Space Plasmas

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2020
We study the transport of energetic particles accelerated at three different shock events observed in the solar wind by the ACE spacecraft. We consider particle propagation for a quasi-parallel, an oblique, and a quasi-perpendicular shock.

Time-variability in the Interstellar Boundary Conditions of the Heliosphere: Effect of the Solar Journey on the Galactic Cosmic Ray Flux at Earth

open access: yes, 2011
During the solar journey through galactic space, variations in the physical properties of the surrounding interstellar medium (ISM) modify the heliosphere and modulate the flux of galactic cosmic rays (GCR) at the surface of the Earth, with consequences ...
