Development of a DSP Microcontroller-Based Fuzzy Logic Controller for Heliostat Orientation Control
This paper describes the design and implementation of a heliostat orientation control system based on a low-cost microcontroller. The proposed system uses a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) with the Center of Sums defuzzification method embedded on a ...

Heliostats represent a major cost share of concentrating solar power (CSP) plants with central receiver. They are essential for system efficiency and strongly influence maintenance cost and service life. Since CSP facilities require direct solar radiation, suitable installation sites can eminently be found in desert regions.

ADJUSTMENT OF LARGE SOLAR OVEN FLAT HELIOSTAT HELIOSTATS
This paper presents an improved method for adjusting individual mirrors –facets of heliostats of a Big Solar Furnace (BSF) with a heat output of 1000 kW in Uzbekistan. Due to the fact that a BSF consists of 22,790 pieces of individual mirrors, the adjustment - setting a specific geometric position of these mirrors is very important.

Atmospheric attenuation on heliostat field [PDF]
S.2258-2264Concentrating Solar Power design is highly dependent on local solar radiation, atmospheric variables (i.e. water vapor content, aerosols concentration, etc) and wind velocity. In the special case of central receiver power plants, the impact of

The Heliostat Design Wind Loads Spreadsheet [PDF]
Wind load predictions for heliostats are not provided in design codes because of their non-standard shape and the changes in wind velocity and turbulence in the lowest 10 m of the atmospheric boundary layer (ABL).

Weather conditions have significant impacts on the solar concentration processes of the heliostat fields in solar tower power plants. The cloud shadow movements may cause varying solar irradiance levels received by each heliostat.

Comparison Study of Two Different Sun-Tracking Methods in Optical Efficiency of Heliostat Field
There are two sun-tracking methods widely used for the heliostat, which are conventional Azimuth-Elevation and revolutionary Spinning-Elevation methods. Following the previous study to compare the range of motion, a comparison study in optical efficiency
