Detection of Atmospheric Cherenkov Radiation Using Solar Heliostat Mirrors

open access: yes, 1996
The gamma-ray energy region between 20 and 250 GeV is largely unexplored. Ground-based atmospheric Cherenkov detectors offer a possible way to explore this region, but large Cherenkov photon collection areas are needed to achieve low energy thresholds ...

Two Axes Sun Tracking System for Heliostat: Case Study in Algeria

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (IJEEI), 2016
In this paper, using Proteus software, sun tracking system with 2 axes has developped to site of GHARDAIA, in the south of ALGERIA.O2 DC motors have used to move heliostat in N–S and E–W axis polar, in order to tracking the sun path.the distinction between day and night has provided by light dependent resistor (LDR).An algorithm of two axes sun ...

Measured and Modeled Trends of Seven Tropospheric Pollutants in the High Arctic From 1999 to 2022

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 129, Issue 12, 28 June 2024.
Abstract The long‐term trends and seasonality of many tropospheric pollutants are not well characterized in the high Arctic due to a dearth of trace‐gas measurements in this remote region. In this study, the inter‐ and intra‐annual variabilities of carbon monoxide (CO), acetylene (C2H2), ethane (C2H6), methanol (CH3OH), formaldehyde (H2CO), formic acid

Integrated Concentrating Solar/Photovoltaic Hybrid Concepts—Technological Discussion, Energy Yield, and Cost Considerations

open access: yesEnergy Technology, Volume 12, Issue 5, May 2024.
Four concepts for the integrated combination of photovoltaics and CST plants are discussed and compared regarding energy production and investment cost. It is estimated that the additional annual energy yield due to the use of the concepts may be as high as 40% using the same aperture area.
