Indivisibility of Electron Bubbles in Helium

open access: yesJournal of Low Temperature Physics, 2001
A recent proposal by Maris[1], that single electron bubbles in helium might fission into separate, particle-like entities, does not properly take into account the failure of the adiabatic approximation when, due to tunneling, there is a long electronic time scale. The point along the fission pathway of a photoexcited p-state bubble, where the adiabatic

Resolving Complex Multiscale Structure of Magneto‐ and Electroactive Polymer Composites With an Ionic Liquid

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Multiscale ionic liquid segregation into nano‐sized domains in the unconfined amorphous polymer phase and into micron‐sized pores enables a coupled magneto‐ and electroactive responses. ABSTRACT A multiscale understanding of the structure of ionogels – nanoparticle‐free polymer composites incorporating ionic liquids – is essential for enhancing their ...

A reduced cluster dynamics modeling of radiation damage in tungsten

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy
A reduced cluster dynamics model is developed to investigate the microstructure evolution of irradiated single crystal tungsten. The model accounts for the generation and reaction of point defects, small-size defect clusters, helium clusters, as well as ...

Nanoindentation and TEM to Study the Cavity Fate after Post-Irradiation Annealing of He Implanted EUROFER97 and EU-ODS EUROFER

open access: yesMicromachines, 2018
The effect of post-helium irradiation annealing on bubbles and nanoindentation hardness of two reduced activation ferritic martensitic steels for nuclear fusion applications (EUROFER97 and EU-ODS EUROFER) has been studied. Helium-irradiated EUROFER97 and

Chromatic‐Invariant Photothermal Fabrics Enabled by Narrow‐Bandgap Organic Semiconductors for Wearable Solar Energy Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A chromatic‐invariant photothermal fabric is fabricated for outdoor activewear, realizing 4°C–8°C heating within 5 min under 1000 W m−2 illumination via NIR absorption, retaining high visible‐light reflectivity and original fabric functions, and achieving >95.3% sterilization in 20 min.

Time-resolved characterization of a pulsed discharge in a stationary bubble [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In recent years, plasma generation in water has been proposed for the application of water treatment. The process efficiency is believed to be improved by the introduction of bubbles in the plasma active region.
