Effect of helium preinjection and prior thermomechanical treatment on the microstructure of Type 316 SS [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
Samples of 316 SS were preinjected with 15 appM helium either hot (650/sup 0/C) or cold (room temperature) and irradiated with 3 MeV Ni/sup +/ ions to a dose level of 25 dpa at 625/sup 0/C in order to test the validity of helium preinjection as a means ...

Effects of Distribution of Helium Bubbles on the Tensile Properties and Swelling of Neutron-Irradiated and Annealed Beryllium(Metallurgy)

open access: yes, 2010
application/pdfTensile properties at 250℃ and swelling of beryllium, irradiated to 5×10^n/cm^2 at about 450℃ and subsequently annealed for up to 1000 h at 800, 900 and 1000℃ were measured to elucidate the effect of helium bubbles formed during the ...

Influence of Composition, Helium Generation Rate and Dpa Rate on Neutron-Induced Swelling of Fe-15Cr-16Ni-0.25Ti Alloys in FFTF at {approx} 400 Degrees C

open access: yes, 2003
Contrary to the behavior of swelling of f.c.c. Fe-15Cr-16Ni and Fe-15Cr-16Ni-0.25Ti alloys irradiated together in the same FFTF-MOTA experiment, Fe-15Cr-16Ti-0.25Ti-0.05C does not exhibit a dependence of swelling on dpa rate at {approx}400 C.

Helium Filled Bubbles in Solids : Nucleation, Growth and Swelling

open access: yes, 2012
When nuclear fuel, fabricated for the purpose of transmuting spent fuel is irradiated, significant amounts of He is produced from alpha particles mainly emitted when 242Cm decays into 238Pu. From irradiation experiments it is known that the presence of He in the solids alters the swelling behaviour of the material.

Dual Ion Irradiation: Impact of the Conflicting Roles of Helium on Void Nucleation

open access: yes, 1985
It has been demonstrated recently that ion simulations of neutron-induced swelling are strongly affected by the presence of the injected ion acting as an extra interstitial atom.
