Prevalence of cycle helmet use in children
Paediatric Nursing, 1999A survey was conducted over a five-day period on a cohort of 234 families attending a busy regional children's out-patient department in the South West of England. A significant result of the survey was that parental use of helmets strongly correlated with the use of helmets by children.

Helmet use and motorcycle fatalities in Taiwan
Accident Analysis & Prevention, 2005Motorcycle deaths accounted for more than half of total traffic fatalities in Taiwan in 2002. This study uses the police-reported crash data from Taiwan between 1999 and 2001 to estimate the effectiveness of helmets, simultaneously taking into account of sample selection bias.

The objective of this research was to measure the rate of bicycle helmet use by university bicyclists at a large public university in the southwestern United States at three different times.

Promoting Helmet Use Among Children
Journal of Community Health Nursing, 2000Despite the proven efficacy of bicycle helmets, helmet use among children remains low. Helmet use among children riding bicycles significantly reduces head injuries and death. A variety of promotional programs to increase helmet use in children have demonstrated limited success.
