Using a Zero‐Strain Reference Electrode to Distinguish Anode and Cathode Volume Changes in a Solid‐State Battery

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Volume changes of a solid‐state battery cell are separated into the individual contributions of anode and cathode. Simultaneously determining the “reaction volumes” of both electrodes requires a reference electrode with a pressure‐independent potential.

Numerical method for a Cauchy problem for multi-dimensional Helmholtz equation

open access: yesApplied Mathematics in Science and Engineering
The main focus of this research is to address the Cauchy problem of the multi-dimensional Helmholtz equation with mixed boundary conditions. This problem is known to be ill-posed according to Hadamard's definition.

Understanding the Dynamics of Nanoparticle Formation and Evolution in Functional Oxides via In Situ SAXS/WAXS

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
In situ SAXS/WAXS enables real‐time tracking of nanoparticle formation and evolution in exsolved and infiltrated Ni‐based perovskites under reducing conditions. The combined technique captures nucleation, growth, and coarsening dynamics with high temporal resolution, providing statistically robust insights into structural and morphological ...

An efficient and accurate modified Adomian decomposition method for solving the Helmholtz equation with high-wavenumber [PDF]

open access: yesSurveys in Mathematics and its Applications
This paper presents a modified Adomian decomposition method (MADM) for solving the one and two-dimensional Helmholtz equation with large wavenumbers. The standard Adomian decomposition method (ADM) suffers from severe divergence issues as the wavenumber ...

Helmholtz operators on infinite graphs

open access: yesHeliyon
The Helmholtz equation in its simplest form is Δu(a)=−k2u(a). In this note, we study a generalized discrete version of this equation on an infinite graph, by using potential-theoretic methods.

Bound on global error of the fast multipole method for Helmholtz equation in 2-D

open access: yes, 2018
This paper analyze the global error of the fast multipole method(FMM) for two-dimensional Helmholtz equation. We first propose the global error of the FMM for the discretized boundary integral operator.

An inverse problem for Helmholtz's equation II

open access: yesInverse Problems, 1987
[For part I see ibid. 3, L 19-L 22 (1987; Zbl 0619.35109).] A method is given for recovery of n(z) and h(k) in \[ [\nabla^ 2+k^ 2n(z)]u=-\delta (x)h(k)\quad in\quad R^ 3 \] from the surface data.

Phonon Engineering in Ultrathin Sn Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
When embedded in multilayer structures, ultrathin Sn layers demonstrate strongly modified vibrational density of states (VDOS). This allows engineering a drastic increase of the Lamb‐Mössbauer factor fLM$f_{\text{LM}}$ and thereby of the cross‐section for coherent excitation of the ultrasharp nuclear resonance of 119Sn$^{119}{\rm Sn}$. This enables the

Optical Detection and Modeling of Lithium Deposition on Copper Current Collectors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Understanding lithium (Li) deposition on copper (Cu) substrates is essential for improving the performance and lifetime of zero–excess lithium metal batteries. In this study, Li deposition was investigated under realistic coin–cell conditions using complementary scanning electron microscopy and laser scanning microscopy. A semi–automatic image

Analysis of the Shifted Helmholtz Expansion Preconditioner for the Helmholtz Equation

open access: yes, 2018
We study in this paper the so-called expansion preconditioner which is a generalization of the shifted Helmholtz preconditioner. We show that this preconditioner can reduce the number of GMRES iterations if the meshsize is small enough and the shift is at most of the size of the wavenumber.
