AbstractThe copolymers of poly[HEMA‐co‐(PVA‐AA)] and poly[HEMA‐co‐(PVA‐MA)] were synthesized and characterized. The presence of PVA‐AA in the copolymer increased the mechanical strength but decreased the water content of the material. The presence of PVA‐MA, on the other hand, caused a decrease of mechanical strength and an increase of water content ...

Metabolism of TEGDMA and HEMA in human cells
Biomaterials, 2010Previous in vivo studies have shown that the comonomers triethylene glycol dimethacrylate (TEGDMA) and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) from dental materials can be metabolised to CO(2) by two postulated pathways: an epoxide and a valine pathway. In the epoxide pathway the formation of pyruvate is postulated and in valine pathway the formation of l ...

The Making of “Erytroid Islands”in Hema Culture
Italian Journal of Anatomy and Embryology, 2015In the marrow, macrophages form a morphological unit, the erythroblast island and in culture release factors still to be marked that affect the growth of the erythroblasts(Ery). When blood CD34pos are stimulated with dexamethasone(Dex) and growth factors in human erythroid massive amplification(HEMA)cultures, large numbers of Ery are generated which ...

Symptomatology of HEMA Contact Lens Wear
Optometry and Vision Science, 1989ABSTRACT Identification of the determinants of patient symptoms is a requisite for successful patient management in contact lens practice. Symptoms reported by 104 patients wearing hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) contact lenses, who presented consecutively to a large contact lens clinic, were analyzed.

Inflammatogenic and adjuvant properties of HEMA in mice
European Journal of Oral Sciences, 20052‐Hydroxyethylmethacrylate (HEMA), a common constituent in dental materials, is known to cause hypersensitivity reactions. While the means by which this small molecule causes adverse responses has not been ascertained, we have previously demonstrated that it binds to protein and in mice induces the production of autoantibodies to HEMA‐conjugated self ...

In vitro cytotoxicity and dentin permeability of HEMA
Journal of Endodontics, 1996An in vitro diffusion chamber was used to measure the diffusion of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) through etched human dentin disks. Concentrations of HEMA, which diffused through dentin, were measured by ultraviolet spectroscopy, and the effect of initial HEMA concentration, dentin thickness, and back pressure on diffusion were assessed.

HEMA İÇEREN VE HEMA İÇERMEYEN ADEZİVLERİN DENTİNE ADEZYONU
2017Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı HEMA içeren self etch adezivlerindentin yüzeyine bağlanma dayanımının, HEMA içermeyen bir adezivlekıyaslanmasıdır. Gereç ve yöntem: Çalışmamızda 24adet çekilmiş insan üst kesici dişi kullanıldı. Dişler mine sement sınırıhizasından kesilerek kök kısımları uzaklaştırıldı.

Hema and latex: a dangerous combination?
Neuroradiology, 1991The endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms with detachable balloons requires filling materials that harden reliably and are compatible with the balloon. While the incompatibility of latex balloons and hema from different manufacturers is known, no incompatibility has been assumed thus far if both balloon and hema were from the same ...

[HEMA-contact lens and HEMA-dressing lens-damage to the eye (author's transl)].
Klinische Monatsblatter fur Augenheilkunde, 19793 cases in which HEMA-contact lens, and 2 cases in which HEMA-dressing lens caused corneal damage were analyzed with regard to symptomatology, etiology and sequence of events. Hyperemia of the limbus is the main symptom. Avoidable causes are exaggerated tightness, overwearing, storing up of proteins, rough surface, and incompatibility of soft-lens ...

The "aging" of a HEMA contact lens.
Journal of the American Optometric Association, 1977The physical characteristics and attendant patient complaints associated with termination of the useful service lives of 26 HEMA lenses are compared with the characteristics of a control (undispensed) population of such lenses.
