T2* Magnetic Resonance Imaging Uncovers Hemosiderin Burden in Pediatric Hemophilia: A Call for Sensitive Imaging Biomarkers

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hemophilic arthropathy remains the leading morbidity in hemophilia despite modern prophylaxis, and early joint damage may be missed by routine exams. This study explored T2* MRI as a noninvasive biomarker of hemosiderin deposition in pediatric hemophilia.

Improvement of Sickle Cell Disease Care Mitigates the Healthcare Utilization Induced by Increased Prevalence: Experience of a Tertiary Pediatric Center

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Sickle cell disease (SCD) has undergone major changes in the last decades. Its prevalence has been steadily increasing and numerous advances have been made in the management of the disease. However, the effect in real‐life setting of these major changes is unknown, particularly in a Canadian environment. Procedure We aimed to assess

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

The effects of low-dose 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate on apoptosis and survival in human dental pulp cells

open access: yesJournal of the Formosan Medical Association, 2021
Background/Purpose: 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) is one of the most major components in dentin bonding systems. Uncured HEMA is eluted through the dentin and harmful to pulp cells.

Sorption of lysozyme by HEMA copolymer hydrogels [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, 1996
Sorption of lysozyme by 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) copolymer hydrogels was studied as a function of pH and gel composition. Three types of HEMA gels were synthesized : neutral (HEMA), acidic (HEMA + acrylic acid), and basic (HEMA + dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate).

Bond strength of HEMA-containing versus HEMA-free self-etch adhesive systems to dentin [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Dental Journal, 2011
This study analyzed the bond strength (BS) of HEMA versus HEMA-free self-etch adhesive systems to dentin. The occlusal surface of 20 third molars was removed and the dentin was abraded with 600-grit silicon carbide paper. The teeth were randomly assigned to 4 groups (n=5) and restored with GO, Adper SE Plus, OptiBond All-In-One, and Clearfil 3S Bond ...
