Indirect hemadsorption reaction

Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 1966
A new method has been suggested for the study of the synthesis of antibodies by isolated cells of immunized animals — indirect hemadsorption reaction. The reaction essentially consists of the fact that erythrocytes sensitized by bacterial haptens become capable of specific attachment to the surface of cells synthesizing antibodies. For sensitivity this

Hemadsorption and Virulence of Mycoplasma Pneumoniae

1981
Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a prokaryotic respiratory tract pathogen of man which causes cold agglutinin-associated primary atypical pneumonia. Although relatively little is known about the properties of this organism that endow it with pathogenicity for man, the use of a hamster model system established that the ability of M.

Titration of Newcastle disease virus and its neutralizing antibodies in microplates by a modified hemadsorption and hemadsorption inhibition method

Journal of Clinical Microbiology, 1976
Using the microtiter system, titration of Newcastle disease virus infectivity and neutralizing antibodies was carried out in chicken embryo fibroblasts grown in "U" or flat-bottomed plates. Infectivity was detected by a combined hemadsorption-hemagglutination method. Inhibition of that reaction indicated the presence of neutralizing antibodies.

ASSOCIATION OF HEMADSORPTION VIRUSES WITH RESPIRATORY ILLNESS IN CHILDHOOD

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1959
Hemadsorption, a specific phenomenon dependent on the hemagglutinating property of the virus, was observed in two viruses newly recovered from children with acute respiratory disease. In a study involving 1,738 children in three hospitals, one or the other of the two hemadsorption viruses was recovered from 54 (6%) of 859 patients with respiratory ...

Comparison of hemagglutination and hemadsorption tests for influenza detection

Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease, 1992
Hemagglutination (HA) testing of the supernatant of primary rhesus monkey kidney cell culture tubes inoculated with clinical specimens was compared with hemadsorption (HAd) of the same tube for identifying the presence of hemagglutinin activity due to influenza. A total of 476 respiratory specimens were screened for influenza by this method.

Measurement of nanogram concentrations of IgG by mixed hemadsorption

Journal of Immunological Methods, 1981
We have modified the mixed hemadsorption technique so as to minimize the non-specific adsorption of indicator cells. This is accomplished by: (1) introducing fetal calf serum at several crucial steps in the procedure, and (2) standardizing the selection of high-power fields to be counted so as to avoid erratic adherence patterns which occur around the ...

Hemadsorption Plaque Assay for Hemagglutinating Encephalomyelitis Virus

American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1972
SUMMARY A plaque assay was developed for titration of infectivity of hemagglutinating encephalomyelitis virus (hev). Viral infection in cell cultures was kept localized by adding nutrient medium containing 1% agar to the cultures. The medium was subsequently removed, and hemadsorption was used to detect otherwise macroscopically inapparent foci of ...

Solid-phase Hemadsorption

Sexually Transmitted Diseases, 1980
A solid-phase hemadsorption (SPHA) technique for the rapid detection of Treponema pallidum-specific IgM antibodies is described. The demonstration of these immunoglobulins permits differentiation between a recent and a long-lasting infection and facilitates the decision as to whether or not a patient should receive therapy for syphilis.
