A Novel Application of Virus Like Particles in Hemagglutination Inhibition Assay

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences
The hemagglutination inhibition (HI) assay is a traditional laboratory procedure for detection and quantitation of serum antibodies of hemagglutinating viruses containing the hemagglutinin (HA) gene. The current study aimed to investigate the novel use of virus like particles (VLP) as an antigen for the HI assay.

Comparison of hemagglutination inhibition test and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for determining antibody to rubella virus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 1981
The hemagglutination inhibition test (HAI) and the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for detecting antibody to rubella virus were compared by testing 25 sets of paired sera taken before and after infection and 10 sets of sera taken during acute and convalescent stages of the disease and by screening 700 serum samples from the Collaborative ...

A Novel Sequence-Based Antigenic Distance Measure for H1N1, with Application to Vaccine Effectiveness and the Selection of Vaccine Strains [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
H1N1 influenza causes substantial seasonal illness and was the subtype of the 2009 influenza pandemic. Precise measures of antigenic distance between the vaccine and circulating virus strains help researchers design influenza vaccines with high vaccine ...

Acute Toxicity and Genotoxicity of cMoL, a Lectin From Moringa oleifera Seeds With Antifungal Activity Against Cryptococcus Strains

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, Volume 46, Issue 2, Page 682-696, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Coagulant Moringa oleifera lectin (cMoL) is one of the compounds involved in the application of M. oleifera seeds for traditional water treatment methods. The present study highlights the new biotechnological potential of cMoL lectin as an antifungal agent against Cryptococcus neoformans B3501 and H99 and Cryptococcus gattii R265 strains ...

Serological Evidence for Circulation of Influenza D Virus in the Ovine Population in Italy

open access: yesPathogens
Influenza D virus (IDV) is a novel orthomyxovirus initially isolated from pigs exhibiting influenza-like disease in the USA. Since then, IDV has been detected worldwide in several host species, including livestock animals, whilst specific antibodies have

Detection of Antibodies to Protective Antigen of Bacillus anthracis Using Indirect Hemagglutination Test and Enzime-Linked Immunosorbent Assay

open access: yesПроблемы особо опасных инфекций, 2010
Protective antigen, isolated by gel chromatography with the help of sephacril S-300 from the cultural filtrate of B. anthracis strain STI, was used to detect antibodies. Sensitivity of IHA and ELISA with hyperimmune serum to PA corresponded to the titers

Hydroxypropyl Cellulose Enhances Immune Responses to the Current Seasonal Influenza Vaccine in Mice

open access: yesMicrobiology and Immunology, Volume 70, Issue 2, Page 68-79, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Influenza A and B viruses cause annual epidemics and continue to pose global public health concerns. The most effective approach to preventing or mitigating the severity of influenza is vaccination. Inactivated split influenza HA vaccines are commonly used worldwide due to their strong safety profile and broad range of target groups; however ...
