A Competitive Hemagglutination Inhibition Assay for Dissecting Functional Antibody Activity against Influenza Virus

Journal of Virology, 2021
The hemagglutination inhibition (HAI) assay is a well-established and reproducible method that quantifies functional antibody activity against influenza viruses and, in particular, the capability of an antibody formulation to inhibit the binding of hemagglutinin (HA) to sialic acid.

Hemagglutination (Inhibition) Assay

2014
The hemagglutination assay is a simple and easy method to obtain semi-quantitative data on the sugar binding and specificity of a lectin. An active lectin agglutinates erythrocytes by recognizing a carbohydrate on the cell surface and forming a cross-linked network in suspension.

Development of a Hemagglutination Inhibition Assay for Duck Tembusu Virus

Avian Diseases, 2019
The HB strain of duck Tembusu virus (DTMUV) propagated in the brains of newborn mice was used to prepare antigens for use in the hemagglutination inhibition (HI) test. Results showed that such prepared antigens are highly specific to the serum samples derived from DTMUV-infected animals.

Hemagglutination inhibition assays

Seminars in Avian and Exotic Pet Medicine, 2002
Hemagglutination is a useful characteristic of many viruses because it can provide a simple and efficient method of detecting antihemagglutinating activity in serum from exposed animals. This is called hemagglutination inhibition (HI), and HI assays are used extensively to detect and titrate antibodies to many avian diseases including Newcastle disease

A rapid hemagglutination inhibition assay for urinary luteinizing hormone and human chorionic gonadotropin

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1977
Abstract A rapid, semiquantitative hemagglutination inhibition assay for urinary luteinizing hormone (LH) and human chorionic gonadotropin is described. Midcycle LH peaks were detected in fresh, unprocessed urines from several individuals.
