Evaluation of immunogenicity of the 2008-2009 seasonal influenza vaccines by microneutralization test [PDF]

open access: yesKorean Journal of Pediatrics, 2012
PurposeFor evaluating the immunogenicity of an influenza vaccine, the microneutralization (MN) test has a higher sensitivity and specificity as compared to the hemagglutination inhibition (HI) test.

Prevalence of antibodies against avian influenza A (H5N1) virus among Cullers and poultry workers in Ho Chi Minh City, 2005. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2009
Between 2003 and 2005, highly pathogenic avian influenza A (H5N1) viruses caused large scale outbreaks in poultry in the Ho Chi Minh City area in Vietnam. We studied the prevalence of antibodies against H5N1 in poultry workers and cullers who were active

Detection of H1 Swine Influenza A Virus Antibodies in Human Serum Samples by Age Group

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2020
Most H1 influenza A viruses (IAVs) of swine are derived from past human viruses. As human population immunity against these IAVs gradually decreases, the risk of reintroduction to humans increases. We examined 549 serum samples from persons 0–97 years of

Application of standard and molecular methods for the diagnosis of newcastle disease [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Biological Sciences, 2012
Four pooled samples of whole poultry carcasses with their internal organs were used to determine the presence of Newcastle disease (ND) virus. Samples were collected from one epizootiological area in the Republic of Serbia during January 2007 ...

Application of a ddRT-PCR to quantify seasonal influenza virus for viral isolation

open access: yesBiosafety and Health, 2022
Viral isolation in cell cultures has been regarded for decades as the “gold standard” for the laboratory diagnosis of influenza viral infections. Not all viral strains could be isolated from clinical samples.

Cross-protective potential of a novel monoclonal antibody directed against antigenic site B of the hemagglutinin of influenza A viruses. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2009
The hemagglutinin (HA) of influenza A viruses has been classified into sixteen distinct subtypes (H1-H16) to date. The HA subtypes of influenza A viruses are principally defined as serotypes determined by neutralization or hemagglutination inhibition ...

Hemagglutination-Inhibition Test in Rhinovirus Infections of Volunteers [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1973
The hemagglutination-inhibition (HI) test for antirhinovirus antibody was carried out on paired sera from volunteers inoculated with rhinovirus type 3 or type 4 (RV4). The HI test gave results which paralleled the neutralization test and was at least as sensitive as a microneutralization method for detection of serotype-specific antibody. Although high

Evaluation of a rubella hemagglutination inhibition test system [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 1976
Two systems for measurement of rubella hemagglutination inhibition antibodies were compared. One had chick erythrocytes as indicator and the other, which is available in kit form ("Rubindex," Ortho-Diagnostics), uses human group O erythrocytes. Correlation to within one dilution of each other was noted in 92% of the tests.
