Synergistic Effects of Garlic Extract and Mannan‐Oligosaccharide Prebiotic Supplementation on Growth Performance, Carcass Quality, Immunity, Gut Morphology and Microbiome in Broiler Chickens

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 1, January 2026.
Garlic extract and mannan oligosaccharide (MOS) synergistically improved broiler growth, carcass weight, immune response, gut morphology and microbial balance, with half‐dose combination (Combo‐I) showing the most consistent benefits, offering a sustainable alternative to antibiotic growth promoters. ABSTRACT This study evaluated the effects of dietary

The Effects of Source and Concentration of Digestible Methionine + Cystine in Diet on Productive Performance, Egg Quality Traits and Blood Metabolites in Commercial Laying Hens

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 1, January 2026.
Hens fed diets with digestible Met + Cys levels equal to (0.742% of diet) or exceeding the strain recommendation (0.929%) exhibited higher egg production compared to 0.555% Met + Cys level. Approximately 0.929% dietary level of digestible Met + Cys enhanced egg mass, egg weight and daily feed intake, and improved feed conversion ratio.

OmpA_C‐Like Domain of PorE Is Essential for PorE Function in the Type IX Secretion System (T9SS) of Porphyromonas gingivalis and Some T9SS Cargo Proteins Are Secreted in a PorE‐Independent Manner

open access: yesMicrobiology and Immunology, Volume 70, Issue 1, Page 15-26, January 2026.
ABSTRACT The periodontal pathogen Porphyromonas gingivalis secretes gingipains, highly hydrolytic proteases, to the cell surface or external environment via a type IX secretion system (T9SS). PorE is one of the T9SS component proteins essential for gingipain secretion. It consists of four domains: TPR, WD40, CRD, and OmpA_C‐like.
