Characteristics of the Toxoplasma Hemagglutination Test Antigen

The Journal of Immunology, 1959
Summary Toxoplasma hemagglutination test antigen, which is a lysate of washed parasites, loses potency rapidly when stored in the liquid state. It is stable for long periods when kept frozen or when lyophilized or precipitated by acetone and dried from ether.

An Evaluation of the Indirect Hemagglutination Test as a Serologic Test for Toxoplasmosis

The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 1967
Infection with Toxoplasma has been found to be widespread in the human population and, as a consequence, is receiving increasing attention. The clinical manifestations may range from inapparent infection or benign disease to severe systemic disease or a chronic stage with eye disease and encephalopathy and mental retardation, or both.

USE OF DRIED WHOLE BLOOD COLLECTED ON FILTER PAPER DISKS IN ADENOVIRUS COMPLEMENT FIXATION AND MEASLES HEMAGGLUTINATION INHIBITION TESTS.

Journal of Immunology, 1964
A method for utilizing blood collected by hemolet puncture on filter paper disks and dried before storage was shown to be feasible in routine complement fixation tests for adenoviruses and hemagglutination inhibition tests for measles. Laboratory tests

THE ENTEROBACTERIAL HEMAGGLUTINATION TEST AND ITS DIAGNOSTIC POTENTIALITIES

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1956
Crude Salmonella antigens obtained from heated cultures are readily adsorbed on human red blood cells; the latter are specifically agglutinated by homologous bacterial antibodies, This Salmonella hemagglutination test is shown to be a sensitive tool for the detection of antibodies developed during salmonellosis and is distinctly superior to the ...

Reliability of the Treponemal Hemagglutination Test for the Serodiagnosis of Syphilis

Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1973
The reliability of the treponemal hemagglutination (TPHA) test for the serodiagnosis of syphilis was evaluated by testing 306 sera with the TPHA and fluorescent treponemal antibody-absorbed (FTA-Abs) tests. Overall agreement between the two tests was obtained with 90.2% of the sera. Fifteen of the discrepant sera were FTA-Abs-positive and TPHA-negative,

Use of Turkey Erythrocytes for Vaccinia Virus Hemagglutination and Hemagglutination-Inhibition Tests

American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1974
Turkey erythrocytes are uniformly susceptible to agglutination by vaccinia virus hemagglutinin prepared from the chorioallantoic membrane of the chick embryo and from primary rabbit kidney tissue cell cultures. Forty-seven lots of erythrocytes were tested and all were agglutinated by vaccinia virus.
