Alteration of Feldspar‐Rich Rocks on Ancient Mars and Its Possible Link to Ca/Fe‐Rich Carbonates

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Feldspar‐rich rocks have increasingly been discovered on the martian surface. They may have been an important part of the ancient martian crust and may be related to Ca/Fe‐rich carbonates (one of two types of carbonates on Mars and the other being Mg‐rich carbonates), but compared to mafic rocks, their interaction with water on ancient Mars is

Protracted High‐Grade Metamorphism and Slow Cooling in the Adirondacks Recalibrate Neoproterozoic Global Paleogeography

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 45, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract The assembly and breakup of the supercontinent Rodinia set the stage for Earth system evolution through the Neoproterozoic Era. Laurentia, the central craton in Rodinia, lacks well‐dated paleomagnetic poles between ca. 990 Ma and 780 Ma. In this study, we develop new U‐Pb petrochronology and thermochronology data sets from zircon, garnet ...

Transformation of Refractory Oceanic Lithospheric Mantle by Reactive Melt Infiltration: An Experimental Study on the Roles of Temperature, Melt Volume and Ascent Velocity

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Reactive melt infiltration critically modifies the physical and chemical properties of the oceanic lithospheric mantle (OLM). This process, involving melt‐rock reactions and in situ crystallization, exhibits substantial spatial and temporal variability driven by melt volume and ascent velocity.

Mastcam‐Z Spectrophotometric Properties of Materials at the Van Zyl Overlook, Jezero Crater

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract During Sols 63–65 of Mars 2020, Mastcam‐Z multispectral (442–1022 nm) images were acquired at Van Zyl Overlook (VZO), spanning phase angles from ∼0° to 150°, to model photometric parameters for seven surface units. These units included rocks, soils, regolith, and rover tracks near the Jezero landing site.

New High Precision Measurements of Apollo Samples: 0.3–5 GHz Complex Refractive Indices

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Active and passive radar techniques provide information on the subsurface structure and history of planetary bodies. However, interpretations of radar data are limited by our understanding of the complex dielectric permittivity and magnetic permeability of the surface material.
