Anaemia in patients with heart failure and mildly reduced or preserved ejection fraction: A prespecified analysis of the FINEARTS‐HF trial

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims Anaemia is common in heart failure with mildly reduced or preserved ejection fraction (HFmrEF/HFpEF) and associated with poor clinical outcomes. While renin–angiotensin system blockers reduce haemoglobin, little is known about the effect of mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists on haemoglobin and in patients with anaemia.

Venous Hematocrit: Caveats to Informing Blood Volume and Relative Risk in Chronic Heart Failure

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease
Background Venous hematocrit (vHct) is commonly used to inform blood volume (BV) status and stratify cardiovascular risk. However, vHct defines a percentage of red blood cells (RBCs) to total BV; therefore, similar vHcts can reflect significantly ...

Sodium chloride versus glucose solute as a volume replacement therapy for more effective decongestion in acute heart failure (SOLVRED‐AHF): A prospective, randomized, mechanistic study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
The impact of sodium chloride (NaCl) supplementation on proximal and distal tubular reabsorption in acute heart failure (AHF). Abstract Aims We questioned the long‐standing paradigm that sodium/chloride restriction is essential for effective decongestion in acute heart failure (AHF). This study compared the decongestive effects of two isotonic infusion

Contactless Conductivity Detection for Capillary Electrophoresis—Developments From 2020 to 2024

open access: yesELECTROPHORESIS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The review covering the development of capillary electrophoresis with capacitively coupled contactless conductivity detection from 2020 to 2024 is the latest in a series going back to 2004. The article considers applications employing conventional capillaries and planar lab‐on‐chip devices as well as fundamental and technical developments of ...

Predictive value of traditional laboratory parameters and inflammatory indices for same‐day seizure recurrence in patients with epileptic seizures

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Early recurrence of epileptic seizures within the same day of emergency department (ED) admission poses clinical management challenges. While several blood‐based parameters have been proposed as prognostic markers in various neurological disorders, their predictive utility in same‐day seizure recurrence remains underexplored.
