Hematoporphyrin derivatives: An oligomeric composition study

Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B: Biology, 1990
The oligomeric composition of HpD, Photofrin II and other hematoporphyrin derivatives useful for the diagnosis and therapy of tumors has been studied. Gel chromatographic procedures were used that excluded porphyrin aggregation. Photofrin and hematoporphyrin derivatives were shown to contain different quantities of monomer, dimer and other oligomeric ...

HEMATOPORPHYRIN‐SENSITIZED PHOTOINACTIVATION OF Streptococcus faecalis

Photochemistry and Photobiology, 1984
Abstract— The photosensitizing action of hematoporphyrin (HP) on the cells of some bacterial strains belonging to the species Streptococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella pneumoniae, as well as of strains of yeast Candida albicans, was studied in air‐equilibrated aqueous media at pH 7.2.

Membrane photosensitization by hematoporphyrin and hematoporphyrin derivative.

Progress in clinical and biological research, 1985
HPD-A, the putative active biologic component of HPD, photosensitized lysis of large phosphatidylcholine liposomes and lipid peroxidation in small liposomes with oxygen enhancement ratios from 4 to 5. Unambiguous proof was obtained that this damage was mediated by singlet oxygen.

Microemulsion and micellar electrokinetic chromatography of Hematoporphyrin D: A starting material of hematoporphyrin derivative

ELECTROPHORESIS, 2005
AbstractAn investigation of the basic factors which govern the microemulsion electrokinetic chromatography (MEEKC) and micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC) separation of Hematoporphyrin D and its base hydrolysis product, hematoporphyrin derivative (HpD), was performed.

A Study on Spectral Characteristics of Hematoporphyrin Monomethylether and Hematoporphyrin in Different Solvents

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
With the application of 405nm semiconductor laser as a light source, this paper presents the fluorescent characteristics of Hematoporphyrin monomethylether and Hematoporphyrin in the following five solvents: Dimethyl sulfoxide, Dimethylformamide, Tetrahydrofuran, Ethyl acetate and Deionized water.

A Fluorescence Study of Hematoporphyrin

Applied Spectroscopy, 1973
The fluorescence characteristics of hematoporphyrin have been studied at 26°C as a function of concentration and pH. The pk values are 4.7 and 8.2 as determined in water and water-ethanol mixtures. The fluorescence spectrum consists of a peak at 625 nm and a second, less intense band at 675 nm.

Influence of medium polarity on the photosensitizing properties of hematoporphyrin and hematoporphyrin derivative (Photofrin II)

Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B: Biology, 1988
The influence of the polarity of the medium on the efficiency of Type I and Type II photosensitization as carried out by hematoporphyrin and its derivative Photofrin II was studied by EPR techniques. Our results suggest that porphyrin aggregates do not participate as such in the photosensitized processes.

HEMATOPORPHYRIN AS A PHOTOSENSITIZER OF TUMORS*

Photochemistry and Photobiology, 1983
Abstract— The ability of hematoporphyrin (Hp) to act as a photosensitizer of cells in vitro or in vivo is a matter of dispute, while hematoporphyrin derivative (Hpd), a mixture of porphyrins including hematoporphyrin, has been consistently found to be an effective photosensitizer both in vitro and in vivo. Until recently the actual component of the Hpd

Hematoporphyrin Photomedicine of Cancer

1987
The concentration of porphyrins by malignant tissue has been known for decades and has been thoroughly reviewed in several recent symposium volumes.1–3 From these symposia as well as the many articles published in refereed journals, a picture emerges that is both positive and negative.
