‘Indotest’ in Atypical Hemicrania Continua

open access: yesCephalalgia, 2008
Hemicrania continua (HC) is an indomethacin-responsive headache characterized by a chronic, strictly unilateral, side-locked without side-shifting, persistent headache. We report three cases of HC with atypical features in which an acute administration of indomethacin 50 mg IM (INDOTEST) was performed.

Hemicrania Continua Responsive to Verapamil

open access: yesHeadache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain, 2005
Hemicrania continua (HC) is a rare headache syndrome, typically responsive to indomethacin, although patients resistant to this drug have been described. Few treatment alternatives have been proposed in the literature. We here report a patient with HC whose initial excellent response to indomethacin faded but then responded remarkably to verapamil.

Indomethacin-Resistant Hemicrania Continua

Cephalalgia, 1992
“Hemicrania Continua”, first described in 1984, is defined as a steady, non-paroxysmal, unilateral headache absolutely responsive to indomethacin. Four cases clinically compatible with “Hemicrania Continua” are described. All four cases were absolutely resistant to indomethacin treatment.

Melatonin Responsive Hemicrania Continua

Headache, 2006
Hemicrania continua is one of the indomethacin‐responsive headache syndromes. There are very few effective alternative therapies for hemicrania continua, thus patients may require daily indomethacin for years. The risks of long‐term indomethacin include gastrointestinal and renal dysfunction. Melatonin is a pineal hormone with a chemical structure very

Neurophysiological Studies in Chronic Paroxysmal Hemicrania and Hemicrania Continua

open access: yesHeadache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain, 1994
SYNOPSIS To explore the possible involvement of the pain control system, pain pressure threshold (PPT), nociceptive flexion reflex (RIll), blink and corneal reflexes have been studied for pain perception assessment in 12 patients with chronic paroxysmal hemicrania (CPH) and 12 patients with hemicrania continua (HC).

Hemicrania Continua Evolving From Episodic Paroxysmal Hemicrania

Cephalalgia, 2006
A 45-year-old woman, who had been diagnosed in our unit with episodic paroxysmal hemicrania, was seen 2 years later for ipsilateral hemicrania continua in remitting form. Both types of headache had a complete response to indomethacin and did not occur simultaneously.

Hemicrania Continua

Current Neurology and Neuroscience Reports, 2014
In recent years, hemicrania continua has become a well-recognized primary headache disorder known for its chronicity and resulting disability in a subset of patients with headache. The core clinical features have been well described: unilateral, side-locked headaches that are continuous (although interrupted by frequent severe exacerbations ...
