Leaf classes, foliar phenology and life forms of selected woody species from the tropical forests of central and southern Eastern Ghats, India [PDF]

open access: yesCheck List, 2012
A checklist of selected woody species of Angiosperms is provided with the aim of classifying their life forms, foliar phenology and leaf classes from the tropical forests of central and southern Eastern Ghats, India. Though there are checklists available

A phylogenomic analysis and revised infrageneric classification of Thesium (Santalaceae)

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 75, Issue 3, June 2026.
Abstract A phylogenomic analysis and revised infrageneric classification of Thesium (Santalaceae) is presented based on targeted enrichment using the Angiosperms353 probe set. This first targeted sequencing study includes 137 samples representing 106 species (approximately 32% of the genus).

Biocontrol by a native hemiparasite: Rapid suppression of noxious invasive plants in a field experiment

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology
Abstract Alien plant invasions are a recognised threat to biodiversity. Although experimental evidence remains limited, their success may be reduced by parasitic plants, which have been proposed as promising biocontrol agents.

The complete chloroplast genome of Elytranthe Albida (Loranthaceae), a hemiparasitic shrub [PDF]

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA Part B, 2019
The complete chloroplast genome (plastome) of Elytranthe albida (Blume) Blume (Loranthaceae) was sequenced. The plastome is 128,658 bp in length, which encodes 96 unique genes, including 64 protein-coding genes, 4 rRNAs, and 28 tRNAs. The complete plastome-based phylogeny indicated that E. albida is sister to remaining Loranthaceae species.

Genome-wide identification of MST, SUT and SWEET family sugar transporters in root parasitic angiosperms and analysis of their expression during host parasitism

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2019
Background Root parasitic weeds are a major constraint to crop production worldwide causing significant yearly losses in yield and economic value. These parasites cause their destruction by attaching to their hosts with a unique organ, the haustorium ...

Ecological drivers and phylogenetic patterns of leaf minimum conductance variability in vascular plants

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 250, Issue 6, Page 3716-3731, June 2026.
Summary Stomatal closure prevents significant water losses during drought events. Yet, leaves are not perfectly hermetic and dehydration ensues through residual water losses, known as minimum conductance (gmin), which is highly relevant since it informs on the water depletion dynamics under stress.

Development and morphology of the fruit and seed of the hemiparasite genus Jodina (Cervantesiaceae)

open access: yesAnales del Jardín Botánico de Madrid, 2017
The monotypic genus Jodina is endemic to central and southeastern South America, common in forests and scrubland environments. The fruit type in Jodina is controversial since it has been described at different stages of development. The main objective of

European mistletoe shares a similar demographic strategy with non‐parasitic plants

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 5, May 2026.
European mistletoe (Viscum album) does not have a distinct demographic strategy from non‐parasitic plants, as quantified by time‐based life history traits. We found that mistletoe vital rates were driven by mistletoe size and position in the host tree.

Microsites Matter: Improving the Success of Rare Species Reintroductions.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Our study was undertaken to better understand how to increase the success rates of recovery plantings of a rare hemiparasite, golden paintbrush (Castilleja levisecta-Orobanchaceae).

Managing the margins: Practitioner perspectives on barriers and solutions for biodiversity‐friendly roadside management in Germany

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 8, Issue 4, Page 945-957, April 2026.
Abstract Roadsides can provide habitats, refuges and corridors for various plant and insect species. Preserving and enhancing these ecosystems can mitigate biodiversity loss and improve connectivity in fragmented landscapes. Despite growing evidence supporting biodiversity‐friendly management strategies, large‐scale implementation has not been realized.
