Spatial and ecological isolation in cicadas: First data from Tibicina (Hemiptera: Cicadoidea) in France

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2002
The seven taxa of the cicada genus Tibicina (T.corsica corsica, T. corsica fairmairei, T. garricola, T. haematodes, T. nigronervosa, T. quadrisignata, T. tomentosa) which occur in continental France and Corsica were investigated.

Length–biomass equations to allow rapid assessment of semi‐aquatic bug biomass in tropical streams

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 171, Issue 2, Page 102-115, February 2023., 2023
Length–biomass equations provide a cost‐effective way of deriving biomass, but relationships vary between taxa and habitats. Semi‐aquatic bugs are bioindicators and prey items for predators. We identify the best‐fit equations to predict the biomass of semi‐aquatic bugs collected in Sabah, Malaysia.

The systematics of the Hemiptera

open access: yesRevista Colombiana de Entomología, 2008
The Order Hemiptera comprises four main clades: Sternorrhyncha, Auchenorrhyncha, Coleorrhyncha and Heteroptera. In this article the main phylogenetic hypotheses for Hemiptera and its subgroups are reviewed. Important references regarding catalogs and identification aids are provided for the major groups, making emphasis in recent online tools.

An Insect Salivary Sheath Protein Triggers Plant Resistance to Insects and Pathogens as a Conserved HAMP

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The salivary sheath protein myosin from SBPH is critical for the formation of the salivary sheath and feeding. However, myosin functions as a HAMP and triggered plant BAK1‐mediated PTI responses, which include the activation of calcium signaling pathways, MAPK phosphorylation, ROS bursts, and cell death, thereby triggering JA pathway.

Temperature-dependent functional response of Nesidiocoris tenuis (Hemiptera: Miridae) to different densities of pupae of cotton whitefly, Bemisia tabaci (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2017
The effect of temperature on the functional response of female adults of Nesidiocoris tenuis Reuter to different densities of Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) pupae was assessed. Three constant temperatures (15, 25, and 35°C) and six prey densities (5, 10, 20,
