Objective The objective of this study was to describe the longitudinal disease course and pulmonary outcomes of North American patients with melanoma differentiation–associated protein 5 (MDA5) antibody–associated dermatomyositis (DM). Methods Thirty patients with MDA5 antibody–associated DM were identified in a single‐center longitudinal cohort of 352

Hemoglobins of the Cutthroat Trout \u3cem\u3eSalmo clarki\u3c/em\u3e
Nine hemoglobins have been isolated from the blood of cutthroat trout. All nine hemoglobins bind oxygen cooperatively and appear to be tetramers with molecular weights of -64,000.

Quantitation of hemoglobins by immunodiffusion: Specific antibodies to hemoglobins A1, S and F
A simple and sensitive immunochemical method for quantifying hemoglobins A1, S and F is described. Antibodies to human hemoglobins A1, S and F were obtained in goats and after cross absorption were shown to be specific for thei corresponding hemoglobins.

Direct Measurement of Equilibrium Constants for High-Affinity Hemoglobins
The biological functions of heme proteins are linked to their rate and affinity constants for ligand binding. Kinetic experiments are commonly used to measure equilibrium constants for traditional hemoglobins comprised of pentacoordinate ligand binding ...

Rheumatologic Manifestations of Patients With Type B Insulin Resistance
Objective The objectives of this study were to identify laboratory and clinical features associated with type B insulin resistance (TBIR), a rare condition caused by autoantibodies that inhibit the insulin receptor, most frequently occurring in the setting of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and to increase awareness of this rare, life‐threatening ...

The extracellular hemoglobins of artemia: Structure of the oxygen carrier and respiration physiology
In contrast with the hemoglobins of the vertebrates, which are almost invariably intra-cellular and tetrameric, the intra- and extracellular hemoglobins of the invertebrates show a wide variety in their molecular size (Mr 16,000 up to 1.7 x 106) and ...

Objective We aimed to construct and evaluate the first laboratory‐based frailty index (FI‐Lab) for predicting adverse outcomes in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and to compare its predictive ability to that of an existing clinical FI. Methods We used data from a single‐center prospective cohort of adult patients with SLE whose baseline visit ...
