The hemolymph proteome of Anopheles gambiae
Insect Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 2005We used two-dimensional SDS-PAGE and microsequencing or peptide mass fingerprinting to identify major proteins in the hemolymph of Anopheles gambiae. We found approximately 280 protein spots in hemolymph and identified 28 spots, representing 26 individual proteins. Most of these proteins have known or predicted functions in immunity, iron transport, or

THE CHEMISTRY OF INSECT HEMOLYMPH [PDF]
1. Hemolymph was collected for analysis from the silkworm, Bombyx mori, in a series of developmental stages ranging from the second molt to the late pupa. The mean pH of larval hemolymph after collection was found to be 6.45, that of pupal hemolymph, 6.57; in vivo values may be slightly lower. Total dry solids ranged from 5.4 to 10.6 per cent.

The clot's appearance in different large-bodied insects has been described, but until recently, little was known about any insect clot's molecular makeup, and few experiments could directly test its function. Techniques have been developed in Drosophila (fruit fly) larvae to identify clotting factors that can then be tested for effects on hemostasis ...

Musca domestica hemolymph ferritin
Archives of Insect Biochemistry and Physiology, 1996We describe a method for the purification of ferritin from Musca domestica larval hemolymph. Musca ferritin occurs in hemolymph predominantly as a native protein with molecular weight equal to 550,000 and subunits of 26,000. The average iron content of purified ferritin was determined to be 3,000 +/ 600 iron atoms per molecule.

Giant hemolymph node of the mediastinum
The American Journal of Surgery, 1961Abstract There have been six previous cases of giant hemolymph node of the mediastinum reported in the literature. An additional case is reported in which the patient was subjected to surgical removal and has survived four years.

There is no authoritative characterization of the attributes of the hemolymph node (HLN) since Gibbes’ first description in 1884. Early reports showed that HLN are found near the kidney in human and animals with the feature of numerous erythrocytes in sinuses. Subsequent studies mainly focused on anatomy and histology, such as the source, distribution,

HEMAGGLUTININS FROM OYSTER HEMOLYMPH
Canadian Journal of Zoology, 1967Oyster hemolymph hemagglutinin agglutinated fish, rabbit, and human, red blood cells, was active over a wide pH range (optimum pH 7.5), and was heat-labile. Dialysis caused a greater reduction in the activity in the aged hemolymph than it did in the fresh hemolymph.

Green pigments of the hemolymph of insects
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1952Abstract The green color of the hemolymph of larvae of Pieris rapae, Cacoecia australana , and Amphipyra sanguinipuncta (all Lepidoptera) is due to the presence of yellow and blue chromoproteins. The prosthetic groups of the yellow component are β-carotene and lutein while that of the blue component is probably mesobiliverdin.

Insect Hemolymph Immune Complexes
2020Insects possess powerful immune systems that have evolved to defend against wounding and environmental pathogens such as bacteria, fungi, protozoans, and parasitoids. This surprising sophistication is accomplished through the activation of multiple immune pathways comprised of a large array of components, many of which have been identified and studied ...

Enkephalin-degrading activity in arthropode hemolymphe
Neuropeptides, 1985Enkephalin and related peptides are rapidly inactivated in Astacus fluviatilis and Limulus polyphemus hemolymphe. At least three different enzymes, an aminopeptidase, a carboxypeptidase and a peptidyl-dipeptidase, acting concomitantly on the peptide substrates have been identified.
