Hemolysis and augmentation of hemolysis by neutral steroids and bile acids
Biochemical Pharmacology, 1965Abstract Thirty-five neutral steroids and bile acids have been studied for their ability to lyse rabbit erythrocytes. Hemolytic activity was found to be associated with the 5-β-H configuration. A few Δ-4,5 steroids were active, but 5-α-H compounds were inactive.

Hemolysis with the F21 Hemopump
The International Journal of Artificial Organs, 1995The aim of this study was to determine the influence of mechanical factors on free hemoglobin using an F21 hemopump cannula. These factors (flow, rotary speed, reduction of the cross section area of the silicone tube and foreign material on the screw) were tested in a mock circulation with ox blood.

[Hemolysis can conceal another hemolysis].
Annales francaises d'anesthesie et de reanimation, 1998We report a delayed haemolytic reaction during the course of a severe HELLP syndrome, which required red blood cell transfusions. Haemolysis was mainly ascribed to the erythrocyte alloantibody anti-Fy a. The fact that this antibody was undetectable before transfusions (despite cross-matching and anti-erythrocyte antibody screening test) emphasizes the ...

Thrombin generation by hemolysis
Blood Coagulation & Fibrinolysis, 2007Hemolysis is the fragmentation of erythrocytes into microparticles (Hb-MP). Clinical hemolysis can result in a severe procoagulant state. The influence of Hb-MP on thrombin generation was quantified. Unfrozen citrated normal plasma (five donors) was supplemented with 0 or 1 g/l Hb-MP obtained through erythrocyte destruction by hypotonic lysis, freezing/
